What patients say on Google
“This facility should not be allowed to operate. A disabled patient with degenerative disc disease, severe chronic pain, and multiple prior back surgeries was involuntarily committed under the Baker Act. The Baker Act was weaponized by his wife during a contentious divorce. She used it as a tactic to force him out of the marital home and gain an advantage in seizing marital assets. He had shown no suicidal ideation or dangerous behavior — only wrote a respectful letter expressing sadness about their situation. While held there for over 6 days: * He was denied his prescribed pain medication from his pain management doctor. * Forced to sit in a folding metal chair all day and sleep on a thin foam mattress on a metal frame bolted to the floor. * Not allowed to have underwear or shoes. * Forced to sleep with the lights on at all times. * Received zero meaningful therapy — only brief 8-minute meetings with technicians and group sessions watching pre-recorded videos and given faded PowerPoint presentations on coping skills, .His treatment was not curated to his specific needs or challenges. He filed a Request for Release (ROR) and was coerced into withdrawing it with threats of re-Baker Act and insurance denial. He also missed an important job interview for a position he had been pursuing for months. He resubmitted it, stood his ground for the required 24 hours and the facility failed to file the required paperwork to continue to retain him. Yet, the refused to let him go which does not align with the Florida State Law. This is not healthcare — this is mistreatment of a vulnerable patient in severe pain. The conditions are inhumane and the “treatment” is nonexistent. This place desperately needs investigation. #BakerAct #PatientRights #FloridaHealthcare #MedicalAbuse”
“The worst experience of my life.I was held under false pretense. Dehumanized every second I spent there. They almost killed me twice. No one would help me. When I demanded they do their jobs and help us, they injected me with a medication I told them makes me go crazy and get violent. Now they are trying to get me in legal trouble over what they did- knowing that I can’t take that medication for that reason.”
“This place has horrible customer service and it takes a genuine act of congress to get any sort of information out of them not to mention they never follow up when the say they will and never give you the help your seeking over the phone and I’ve now just realized once their done dealing with you they stop answering the phone all together. I understand due to the nature of the facility it’s probably not going to be the best place to deal with or talk to but I work in customer service and I can tell you having an attitude over the phone is not a good look for your facility.”
“🚨 Important Warning: Please Read Before Admitting Your Loved One 🚨 Do not admit your loved one into Universal Behavior Hospital or any mental health facility without thorough research. This particular facility has shown extremely troubling practices that raise serious red flags, especially here in the state of Louisiana. 🔴 Patients may be held against their will for 10–15 days—often for insurance purposes, not for care. 🔴 Some are given heavy sedation, sleeping most of the day with limited engagement or therapeutic support. 🔴 Communication is poor—nurses can be rude or dismissive, messages often do not reach your loved one, and some counselors ignore concerned calls from family discharge takes hours unnecessarily waiting. 🔴 Patient rights are routinely ignored. Although the building may appear clean and the administrative staff are courteous, do not be fooled by appearances. The overall experience for many patients and families has been deeply distressing. ✅ Before admitting anyone, do your homework: • Read reviews and testimonials • Ask tough questions • Research your legal rights • Consult with an attorney if needed Patients have rights—and families have the right to protect them. Never be afraid to speak up or demand answers. 💡 Be informed. Be persistent. Be their advocate. Mental health care should be about healing, not harm.”
