What patients say on Google
“I stopped going because they were billing me and not my insurance saying my insurance won’t cover it. Screw that! I begged for a therapist and all they did was send me to some quack who didn’t care about my past and just wanted me on medication. These people are a joke. Why should I pay for a service that I’m not getting? They throw you into group therapy first which is a big mistake especially with PTSD survivors with ASD. They then if that don’t work place you for two private sessions with a shrink then from there they place you with a pill pusher. I don’t want meds! Don’t need chemicals pumped into me. I want real treatment! The best way to cure a disease is to go at the source. Second they had the fire alarms go off during business hours. Not good for PTSD. I was shaking for days and had worsened nightmares. This place is a sick joke claimed to be state run. And get this I’m being billed over $200 for five minutes phone calls four times a year. Nope. Yall can send that to collections or sue me. I don’t care. $100 per day fine after the posted due date? Good luck with that. LOL! Can’t collect on someone who is disabled. You cannot garnish disability.”
“Valley is just one of a long list of places that offer helpful resources it is NOT the be all end all of rehabs and it doesn't act like it is. Valley helped me when I was a child and their crisis counselors letter kept me out of juvy so years later after my 8th OD I picked them as my first rehab since they helped me in the past. 1 year 11 months sober now, Everyone is kind and helpful and fufills the role they were assigned. Part of getting sober is to stop blaming all your problems on the world and others and a lot of people in these replies seem to have had a skewed view of what VCSB was supposed to do or made mistakes and blame the situation they put themselves in on this place. I say none of this to put myself above them, everyone is in different phases of there recovery and I only wish the best for every person who is involuntarily or voluntarily chosing to go here. I chose VCSB and I followed the directions to a Tbut the most important factor was chosing everyday to try an be better, if you try to be a little bit better than the day before you will do whatever you set yourself upon. Thank you VCSB for helping me at my lowest.”
“The commercials make VCSB look like a great place that is dedicated to there patience but in all reality the company is about making money. I never paid a dime and I wouldn't recommend anyone to. First off. There employees change like most people change socks so that's why they have no Idea what's going on. I had been going to obot for more than three years with NO failed urine screen ever. Infact one month Dr. Jeff Robin's told me that he didn't need to see me and for me to just pick up my medicine. This past Thursday 05/01/2025 I had a visit. I went to the bathroom and started to pee in the drug test cup. While I'm peeing I accidently dropped the cup in the toilet also I had to be at work in an hour or I would get fired. When I opened the bathroom door I told sandy i accidently dropped the cup of pee in the toilet. I told them I had to be at work and I need my medicine everyday( Dr. Robin's knows this fact). So I told Sandy Bucklin my situation and she said your gonna have to wait until you have to pee again and get fired from my job. I got upset like anyone else would In this situation and the next thing I know is I'm getting AMBUSHED and made to leave by 5 employees I was told that I would have to find another clinic for my problems. VCSB in Staunton VA are supposed to help with problems not turn them away. If you have any kind of problem go somewhere else, or just start doing drugs again or start drinking again, its inedible at that point. My Name Is JOSEPH SMITH, If anyone has had an experience like this I'll help you sue”
“VCSB supported me at my lowest point when I felt I had been let down by all other avenues of help. I have continued with them for 6 years even though I now have health coverage, because I NEED the extra things they do to prevent myself from falling through the cracks. I am afraid to go to another practice because elsewhere I have been prone to forgetting appointments or making some other brain-fart mistake, and can't seem to meet standard expectations. I am blessed with a panic disorder that kicks in when I feel unheard, dismissed or unfairly judged...so I AVOID people (other mental clinics' office staff) who interact with me in this way. The VCBS office staff has never been less than respectful in my years of experience. Recently diagnosed at aged 60 with underlying autism, I did hope my provider would have some renewed understanding of my challenges. Sadly, I don't feel that is the case. I have tolerated our interactions for 3 years, but now knowing the source of my difficulties (autism) I realize more fully that I am a very poor self-advocate. I tend to expect to be misjudged and misunderstood, and then when it happens, spend hours trying to understand why. This should not be my experience from my mental health provider. I now don't know where to turn. I considered a lower rating, but one mismatched provider among many great supportive staff over almost 8 years does not warrant that. (I am surprisingly objective, because...autism.)”
