How likely are you to recommend UPMC Women's Behavioral Health Specialists?
What patients say on Google
“I was referred to this provider by my OBGYN for postpartum mental health support, and my experience was extremely disappointing. I spoke with Dr. Silver, who opened the call with a brief explanation of his background working with postpartum patients and his previous experience as an OBGYN. I’ve been stable on 25 mg of Zoloft, which is the dose that works best for me. Instead of providing supportive postpartum care, Dr. Silver immediately told me the dose was “sub-therapeutic,” insisted I needed a completely different medication because I experienced initial startup side effects nearly a year ago, and then abruptly told me to find a primary care doctor to refill it because he would not. Throughout our short conversation, he repeatedly interrupted me and made it clear he believed he knew what was best for me within minutes of meeting me. His second reason for refusing care was that they “only see patients for one year postpartum. and I was 7 months postpartum.” As a breastfeeding mom, I am extremely cautious about medications that could affect my supply, mood, or transfer more through breast milk. If 25 mg of Zoloft is working well for me, there is no reason to push a complete medication change especially without listening to my concerns. Treat the patient, not your ego. I reached out as a postpartum patient seeking help, and the interaction felt dismissive, impersonal, and lacking any trauma-informed care. I ended the call feeling worse than before and without any guidance or care plan. He even told me we were “wasting each other’s time” if I wasn’t agreeable to switching to a completely different medication. This is not what supportive postpartum psychiatric care should look like for someone who is already vulnerable. 0/10 do not recommend”
“I feel like Dr. N Silver has been very helpful. I have seen her a few times now and my mental health has been improving. I have a therapist as well, and seeing her and my therapist has made vast improvements in my life. I am a lot more calm. I actually have appointments on a monthly basis. I can call and ask questions and someone answers. It is difficult to find a psychiatrist that is a good fit. For me I think she is great.”
“Dr. N silver is the wife of the practice. She is not only rude but it’s very belittling in whatever you’re suffering with. I have left her office several times dissatisfied with how she has handled my situation. She does not provide hope whatsoever. I had called the office several times for help because I was so desperate for help and answers and she told me that I was “harrasing” the office. If you’re struggling, do not go and see her. She only makes you feel worse and that suffering is your only option.”
“Dr D Silver is great! He listened to all my concerns, answered all my questions and gave me options on how I wanted to move forward. It can be a little hard to get an appointment but they do their best to accommodate you in some way if you really need to be seen sooner.”
