What patients say on Google

“The first provider I’ve seen does not consider what the patient has used in the past for medications. They are rude. I got switched to a different provider after our session was over. They want me to go through tons of medications and refuse to prescribe any medication that you have used in the past that you know have worked for you Staff is rude. You can’t get in touch with them. They don’t know what you’re talking about when you need a billing information and itemized bills, they transfer you to the front desk to talk to someone and then you get hung up on this horrible service. I would not go here”

“I liked my provider (LaVonnie Joiner). But thats the only thing I liked about this place. During my consult Ms. Joiner asked me several questions about my medical history- all of which was detailed in the records I sent over in advance. When I told Ms. Joiner that, she said they don’t have any time to look at any records at all bc of how many patients they see. Genuinely confused by that bc then what is the point of sending over records? She also was clearly reading from a check box/script the whole time. The very scripted impersonal visit, and explicit admission that they “don’t have time” to review any patient medical records due to the large number of patients they see gave me pill mill red flags. I don’t attribute this to Ms. Joiner as she was a pleasant person and seemingly doing what she was told to do by Dr. Warner. This office insists that every patient receiving a controlled substance (regardless of their actual medical needs, history of using the medication properly, drug screens, etc.) must go every single month otherwise they will not fill your prescription. For what? To generate additional profit from your insurance (or client’s pockets for those that self pay), check off a box for auditing purposes showing that they did a 15 min scripted impersonal visit with you where— again they didn’t review your history bc they “don’t have time”, and then can more confidently prescribe you your controlled substances to give the guise that they are not a pill mill bc at least they’re seeing patients every 30 days. My previous providers had me come in once every 6 months. But during those bi annual visits with previous providers, they had my chart pulled up, referenced prior visits/notes from my history, had a real conversation with me, and were not reading from some checklist. If I could’ve stuck with my old providers, I would have. But they are out of network on my new insurance. When I asked for my records, they incorrectly claimed that HIPAA barred me from receiving them. However, the only carveout that would bar an over 18 year old mentally competent person from getting their own medical records are: (1) psychotherapy notes and (2) if the release of the records would be harmful to the patients of others. I am not receiving psychotherapy so that’s irrelevant and I’m getting care for minor ADD- nothing harmful… Their replies on others google reviews are beyond unprofessional. For example, the constant claims that most of their patients have an (un)diagnosed personality disorder so therefore minimize someone’s review is CRAZY WORK coming from a psychiatric office who should be the last one to mock, belittle, or spread painful stereotypes about those who they serve. Secondly, they repeatedly claim that they’ve served so many happy patients but usually only the unhappy ones leave reviews— perhaps that’s true but if you look at my Google review history you can see I often leave positive reviews for places. No business should argue with people through Google reviews. Instead they should take it as an opportunity to grow, or invite the person to call to try to make things right like a normal business would. If you are someone that needs monthly visits, and doesn’t care that your provider fails to review records at all, gives major pill mill vibes, and is unprofessional online, then this may be a good fit for you. Otherwise, I’d recommend going elsewhere.”

“I finally found the time in my hectic work life to sit down and schedule this appointment right before I left for a 2 week "off the grid" travel. This was a part of my self care for the issues I had been having. My appointment was for 1 day after returning from my travel. 3 hours before my appointment I looked for my paperwork to fill out as with any other Dr appointment, only to find that they had canceled my 6/10 appointment for not having paperwork filled out by 6/6. I was very upset because of all that it took for me to finally make the much needed appointment for my ADD issues. I left a message that it was ridiculous to cancel people's appointment over "paperwork" which took all of 5 minutes to complete. I felt that it was controlling and punitive to do this to people who were already experiencing the VERY ISSUE that could have caused them to overlook the text messages from them in tbe first place (I can only imagine the challenges their harsh style would pose on elderly or non tech savvy adults as their appointments would get canceled for failure to complete paperwork DAYS before their appointment). I made the appointment, marked that task complete, and left for my travel. My phone was dead for the entire duration of my travel so I did not receive any of their texts during that time. I completed the paperwork 3 hours before the appointment. I stated that it would have been nice if the scheduler made sure to point out that "if they didn't receive paperwork 72 hours prior to the appt, they would cancel the appt". Rather than understanding MY frustration and simply offering another date, Brianna joined the chat and "confirmed" that "the appointment was infact canceled and you will not be seen here". For clarification I asked her what she meant by "you will not be seen here". She stated "Due to the way you are messaging right now we will not set up another appointment for you here, you will have to fine somewhere else to be seen". Her use of the word "fine" instead of "find" told me everything I needed to know about this office. It explained why there was a complete lack of empathy, and lack of tools and training to handle patients who ARTICULATE their frustration (which WILL come with such a strict appointment policy). A business centered around psychological issues should have the tools to simple frustration MASTERED!!! If Chic-fil-a can do it, surely PSHCHOLOGY centered staff can, right? It is unfortunate that urban offices tend to have the most strict policies, with the most bad attitudes and low education in the front office. But here I can offer them the empathy they failed to offer me, by stating, they are unusually strict probably because they deal with a higher volume of inconsiderate "no-shows". It is obvious the types of patients they serve, and it is also obvious the type of staff their office is made up of... So I was glad to take my business elsewhere- I need services that are easy to obtain and keep, not services that are rigid and punitive from the start. This is the settling difference between McDonalds and Chic fil a.”

“I had an amazing experience at Neuropsychiatric Clinic of Atlantis. Ms. Heather got me in the same day and made everything smooth and stress-free. Ms. Amoussa in the Villa Rica office was just as kind and understanding, making sure I felt supported the whole time. Both of them showed real compassion and professionalism—I’m so grateful for their help and highly recommend this clinic.”
