“0 STARS!!! I have serious concerns regarding patient treatment and living conditions at the Kenner Behavior Center. Based on my recent experience, I believe the facility is failing to provide adequate care and maintain a respectful environment. My concerns include the following: - Hygiene and Personal Care: I was denied a bath for two days despite repeated requests. When I was eventually permitted to bathe following my daughter's intervention, there was no hot water. Additionally, staff rushed me during basic grooming. - Safety and Dining Conditions: During breakfast, an unsupervised patient threw a plate that struck me. On another occasion, a monitor discarded a patient's meal before she had started eating because I had assisted her with opening her milk. - Staff Conduct: Personnel have been consistently unprofessional. Staff enforce rigid sleep schedules, such as mandatory two-hour naps, which reduce allotted phone time. Furthermore, I discovered my roommate on the floor after a fall and found the nursing station unattended because the nurse, Kendra, was asleep. When she finally requested assistance from an RN named Will, he was dismissive of my roommate's inability to stand, despite her having stitches in her knee. - General Environment: The food quality and the overall cleanliness of the facility are unacceptable. These experiences have left me feeling mistreated and unsafe. I am sharing this information so these issues can be investigated and addressed immediately to ensure no other residents are subjected to these conditions.”

“If you want your family member to be cared for with dignity, compassion, and proper attention, do not send them here. My 88-year-old grandmother was placed in this facility, and our family’s experience has been heartbreaking. We were never able to speak with a doctor, and even now we still do not know what medications she was given. This Saturday at 11:30 at night, we received a call that my grandmother — who cannot walk — had suffered some type of injury. When we asked what happened, we were given no clear answers other than that they found her in bed with the injury. Again, she cannot walk. EMTs also reported that her mattress was on the floor, meaning she had been sleeping on the floor. There is no excuse for that level of neglect. We later found out in the emergency room that she had a broken femur!!!!! When we later went to pick up all of her belongings, we were again told they did not know what happened to her. Even more concerning, the charge nurse had no knowledge that my grandmother had been taken to the hospital when Kenner Police called the facility at 10:00 the next morning — despite the fact that she had been transported by ambulance at 11:00 the night before. How does the nurse in charge not know any of this? My grandmother underwent surgery and now has a rod in her leg. She will never be the same, and any hope we had of her regaining mobility or even getting out of bed again has been taken from her. We have filed a police report, and we are pursuing a full investigation, including complaints to the Department of Health and legal action. Please, I am begging you, do not trust this place with someone you love.”

“**0 STARS** NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! My mom (formally a GREAT nurse) was admitted there from West Jeff Hospital (Marrero) why they sent her way to Kenner, I dunno... It took them 3 days before they let her take a shower (prison style and with COLD water) They had to ask for toilet paper when they had to go to the bathroom. They "stored" my mothers belongings and could not find her shoes (crocs) on the day of discharge. My mother was discharged in the beginning of February in 30° weather with NO SHOES!! $80 in an envelope was also missing out of her purse. Nurse Ginger tried to give her medicine that she doesn't normally take and NONE of the ones that she normally takes. Including a blood pressure pill. My mother asked about her blood pressure pill, and asked Nurse Ginger to please check her chart to be sure that she is giving her the correct meds. Nurse Ginger said, "ohh you are refusing to take them" and put them back on the tray. She didnt get any meds. [side note:they say that phone time is from 1-4 or something like that, but my mom said that they make them go in their rooms and cant come out from 1-3pm] When I asked them about the blood pressure pill, I was talking to both charge nurse Kim and Nurse Ginger. They told me that she refused to take her meds. I asked what meds were they trying to give her?, she named 2 unfamiliar names and 1 Rx that my mother stopped taking almost a year ago. I said well what about her blood pressure pill? They continued to insist that my mother refused all medication. I said so my mom didnt ask you to double check her chart to be sure that you were giving her the right meds? Nurse Ginger said, "No, she is a liar!" [Projection... she was the liar. My mom wakes up thinking about that blood pressure pill] I then said well knowing that ot wasn't given, can you give it to her now? No... Well what if her blood pressure is high? "We will have to give her something else, but it wont be the same medicine." Ok, well can someone please go check it to be sure that she is ok? " yeah we will go check it" They did NOT! But not only that, Charge Nurse Kim gave me BP reading number to make it seem like she did! And later admitted that it hadn't been checked since early that morning. So they DO NOT care about ypur hygiene give you your medicines. There is NO PHYSICIAN on-site (they come and make rounds) They DO NOT make sure that the patients get up to eat They do not help the older people cut up their meals or open their milk. 15 mins into meal time they will start taking trays of untouched food to throw in the trash. Last but not least my moms roommate fell and after my mom went to get help, they left her laying on the floor for over 3 hours. She was a 64 year old woman that just had knee surgery. They came in and just yelled at her to get up, no one extended a hand to help her up or nothing. They was trying to keep my mother without reason and not even giving her a shower or her meds!! I insisted that she be released, they then stopped answering my phone at this location.. I called every extension at their corporate office until I got someone on the phone and got her out of there! I later was directed to Dr Ada Craige-Roberson which assured me that there would be an investigation. However the response letter "thanked me for taking the time out to send them feedback, and after investing they found that there was room for improvement as it relates to staff communication. As a result of my concerns they are going to re educate their staff and at this time they considered my grievance closed" They want to milk medicaid, but at what cost? I dont think they care who pays, as long as they get paid. And who better to assist with knowingly stealing money from medicaid, other then someone that has done it before. DR. Ada Craige-Roberson (google that)”

“I had a horrible experience at Oceans Kenner. Most of the staff was cruel and hostile towards the patients. They over-medicated me despite my protests. Most of the staff was verbally abusive and physically abusive. Medicare/Medicaid will be alerted to the fraud and waste that I witnessed. -Rebecca Austen”
