What patients say on Google

“I recently was admitted to Oceans Hospital as an inpatient on a voluntary basis. While there I saw a lot of problems with the operation and people around me because I felt insecure in the environment and unsure about my future; however, after taking time to advocate for myself and talking more with my peers, the patient advocate, the nurses, technicians, psychiatric team, and the administrative team, I was able to build trust and transition to a new environment and pass on my experience to others. I am now in a better place while still missing the relationships I formed with the employees and my peers … what I learned during my stay is that We all have to look out for each other If you see something, say something Stay in touch with loved ones Advocate for yourself Ask for help Find the one person you can trust And then look for a way to build more Never give up Know your rights (they are in plain sight) Always do your best And, keep your options open PS Remember to trust your gut, you can turn to the nurses to contact the therapists and doctors after hours, and you can always use the phone to make a business call or file a complaint. PPS My experience was and felt like a nightmare at times while at the same time I grew a lot and learned to communicate better and enjoy life a little more … special thanks to the technicians, nurses, administrators, doctors, and cleaners: Cindy, Gloria, Molly, Desiree, Celina, Sabrina, Sandra, Christy, Megan, Tricia, Sasha, D, Ariana, Cameron, Crystal, Marissa, Emory, Andrea, Grace, Deb, Cynthia, Isabelle, Kyra, Jennifer, Heather, Tiffany, Hailey … Lawerence, Josh, Travis, Daniel, Bill, Jacob, Richard, Pete, Robert, Stephan, Michael, Raul, Randall, John, Brent and …”

“My husband was taken here involuntarily after a councilor gave emergency services false information. He was forced into signing in voluntarily under threat of a judges order, a longer stay, and loss of rights. I tried calling many times to talk to anybody that would answer, but every option on the automated menu went to voicemail and I never received a call back after leaving a message. Even the operator went to voicemail. When I went to take him some changes of clothes, I stood outside the door ringing the doorbell for around five minutes before somebody finally answered. The whole time I was standing there I could hear the nurses talking and laughing right on the other side of the door. My husband said that he felt unsafe the entire time he was there. The staff weren’t doing their jobs. Nobody could tell him anything that was going on. After five days they finally told him they still didn’t have any kind of treatment plan for him. It wasn’t until day eight that he finally saw a doctor, after getting the VA involved, and the doctor agreed that he shouldn’t have been there in the first place.”

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Henry Flores and the intake team at Oceans Behavioral Hospital for their guidance and support during a very difficult time for our family. The compassion and dedication shown by the nursing staff made a meaningful difference in our experience. Additionally, the outpatient team continues to provide excellent care, and we truly appreciate their ongoing commitment.”

“My Biggest Negative Comment About Oceans Is The Fact There Is No Intake By A Phyciatrist To Prescribe The Proper Medications For Each Individual. Either Prescribe The Right Personal Medications, Or Find Out What They Were Taking And Prescribe That. I Was On Medications, None Of Which Were Prescribed To Me Or Was I Questioned About. The Groups Donot Take The Place Of A Phyciatrist. In 1987 I Was On The 7th Floor Of Memorial Hospital And Saw A Phyciatrist Every Morning. When I Was At Bayview On Wooldridge, We Saw A Phyciatrist Every Morning. Megan Talley Showed Up One Time The Whole Time I Was There. Their Groups Are Like An Expensive Bandaid For Serious Problems. If You Want To Get To The Root Of Your Problems Don't Go To Oceans. Try God, AA, NA Or A Personal Doctor. It's A Joke To Me.”
