What patients say on Google

“I went for the first time this week to get bloodwork done with Dr. Mcelveen. Everybody in reception was great and very friendly. Dr. Mcelveen and the nurse who took my blood were great! They were both very authentic and personable. Also very professional and friendly. They treated me as an individual and not just another patient. I’ll definitely be using them again!”

“Fantastic experience all the way around. I might've waited 3 min to get called back, tops. The nurse who did my initial assessment(height, weight, etc.) was an absolute delight. And Dr. McElveen was so helpful and easy to talk to. You can easily tell that he's just an all-around good guy. Very glad to have had my first appointment there, since moving to the area. 🤙🏻”

“We don’t go to the doctor often, so when we do, we expect thorough care and good communication. Unfortunately, our experience at MedLink in Jefferson was extremely disappointing. My 19-year-old daughter went in on Friday with a fever, sore throat, and urinary symptoms. She was diagnosed with a UTI. Her rapid strep test was negative, but she was told they believed it was a false negative and started her on an antibiotic that they said would cover both a UTI and strep. She was told throat and urine cultures were not necessary even though the doctor documented that she declined cultures. Over the weekend she developed a widespread rash, so we returned on Monday. At that point they decided to send a throat culture, urine culture, and test for mono. Since she had already been on antibiotics, we questioned how helpful the cultures would be. On Wednesday morning I called as soon as the office opened because she had developed a white “strawberry” tongue and I was concerned. After not receiving a call back, I called again around lunchtime. I didn’t receive a return call until about 3:30 p.m., only to be told the lab results had arrived but the provider had already left for the day and even though there were other providers in the office, no one else would review them until the next morning. Communication throughout this process was frustrating, and the delays made an already stressful situation much more difficult. I also questioned the change to a 3-day course of Bactrim for her UTI, especially since it had not been effective for her in the past and she almost ended up having to have IV antibiotics because bactrim didn’t work for her, but my concerns were not addressed. When I finally spoke with someone this morning, I was told they were short staffed and that the doctor’s nurse was on vacation. I understand that staffing challenges happen, but from a parents/patient’s perspective, that shouldn’t result in delayed communication or delays in reviewing important lab results. When you’re caring for sick patients, timely follow-up is critical.”

“Also a great experience to see the nurse Lisa. She is very sweet and listens to you. I have seen Drew for a while and he always listens well and makes sure to fix any and all issues. I would recommend for anyone to go see them!”
