What patients say on Google

“I’ve made multiple attempts to communicate about my treatment and medication needs, and I’ve been met with complete silence. Being left without any communication or support has put me in an extremely vulnerable position, and it has taken a significant emotional toll on me. I also need to address how upsetting my recent interactions with Dr. Monroe were. His behavior toward me was unprofessional and dismissive. Hearing him use the F‑word toward me was shocking and completely inappropriate for a mental health provider. Someone in his position should know how to de‑escalate a situation and respond professionally, not escalate it further. When he called me, he was abrasive, rude, and unwilling to listen. It became clear he had no intention of hearing my side or resolving the situation in a neutral, therapeutic manner. His use of the F‑word was unacceptable and raises serious concerns about his professionalism. He also stated that he recorded our phone call. I never gave consent for this, and recording a patient without their knowledge is a serious violation of privacy. Legally, a person must be informed if a conversation is being recorded. I did not receive any such notice. Because of this, I am requesting a copy of the recording. If he is unwilling to provide it, then it can be submitted directly to the New York State Medical Board during their investigation. Again, I never consented to being recorded. This situation has left me in crisis during one of the lowest points in my life. When I met with him in November to discuss my treatment, he told me, “Unfortunately, I don’t have the kind of time Wendy does,” and emphasized how busy he was with other clients. I left that appointment extremely disappointed. When I met with Wendy two weeks ago, it felt as though she had never met me. She asked questions she should have already known the answers to. I understand she had been out, but reviewing my chart before our appointment would have prevented this. She also repeatedly asks me to recall childhood events or traumatic memories. I have already shared my history with her, and revisiting trauma over the phone without any therapeutic purpose has been distressing. She will ask me to recall something painful, and then immediately follow it with unrelated questions like “What were you doing before this call?” or “What did you eat for dinner?” This does not feel therapeutic or supportive. During my last appointment, I told her I had lost my job and was clearly upset. She did not acknowledge my feelings or ask any follow‑up questions. Instead, her next question was, “What did you eat for dinner last night?” I shut down completely. When I said I couldn’t remember, she told me to “take some time to think about it,” and then the line went silent. I also explained my medication situation and asked her to resend my Vyvanse prescription — the medication I normally take. When I went to the pharmacy, the prescription was not what we discussed. It was for 10 mg of Adderall, which made no sense. When I called the office, I was told I had filled Adderall in December — which I did only because I didn’t know what I would be able to afford at the time. The pharmacy informed me that my usual prescription was still on file but needed to be rewritten for 2026, as the previous one was written in December 2025. This entire situation amounts to medical neglect and abandonment at a time when I am already struggling. I have now been completely off my ADHD medication, and it has significantly affected my mental health. I will be reporting him to the New York State Medical Board for recording my call without consent, as well as for medical neglect and abandonment.”

“Went here as a teenager for a few weeks. Forgot why exactly I stopped. Came back recently trying to get back on meds I have been prescribed in the past. First visit they insisted I give a blood sample to ensure whatever they give me won't have any adverse effects, and they won't pay for the test (came out to be $500). Second visit they insisted I take a genetic profiling test, for the same purpose. This test was supposedly free but I was out almost $1000 and no closer to having my medicine back. All this, and when I told them I wasn't religious they insinuated this was the source of my problems. When I mentioned I smoke irregularly (not even one cigarette a day) they made me feel ashamed that I couldn't just quit (I'm obviously not addicted, I take a smoke when things get bad). I understand as a medical professional you need to have the anti-smoking stance but making someone who is already there to change the way they feel, feel worse, is a really bad tact. Just a lot of nonsense for absolutely no gain. Don't waste your time.”

“Dr. Marino is a no nonsense doctor. I saw a change in him after he hired a new office manager. I was afraid to go in his office the 1st time..it looked like it should have been located in the middle of a 3rd world country. then he hired the new office manager.. Well... firstly she was the most caring person I have ever met. Her attitude and energy about her brought my tension level way down. What a big difference. The next time there I saw changes in the office,, she told me of all the ways she was changing things to help make people feel better and boy she changed things up. The office was now cleaner and people friendly. her attitude must have been contagious because the doctor's attitude also had changed. The people in the office seemed to be more like that of a family's rather than a business. It made me really comforted being around such a friendly environment. Dr. Marino is an extremely intelligent man and listened to my issues. He explained things and gave me different options asking about my concerns. I have seen a huge turn around since 3 years ago and really like what that office has become.”
