How likely are you to recommend Dunwoody Behavioral Health Center?
What patients say on Google
“I left Dunwoody over a week ago, and my experience there far exceeded any previous placements I’ve had in almost every aspect. While there is always room for improvement in any facility, Dunwoody is no exception. however, they truly do everything they can to provide the best possible experience for their patients. The staff genuinely care about each individual and actively work within their capabilities to make every patient’s experience better and more comfortable. Dunwoody completely reshaped my perspective on mental health treatment in a positive way. I sincerely thank them for the 30 days of support, care, and guidance they provided me. I would wholeheartedly recommend this facility to a loved one.”
“Dunwoody Behavioral Health Center (DBHC) changed my life and helped guide me toward saving it. My 30 days there were, as my therapist Alex said during our first session, “the best experience I never want to have again.” That ended up being completely true! The intake process can feel overwhelming at first, but once I settled in, I found an incredibly supportive environment. The staff were exceptional—case managers (shoutout to Kali), therapists (especially Alex, Jinsie, Eton, Angela, LT, and Ling), interns (especially Megan, Taylor and Nathan), nurses, behavioral health techs (especially Uriah, Aliyah and Lex- the karaoke superstars, Nakiya, Val, Ms. Kim- the diamond art and crochet queen, Michelle and Luke & Chris for managing it all so well) housekeeping, food service, and everyone else who contributed to making DBHC a place of genuine healing and growth. I always felt safe, cared for, and supported. Even when my therapist wasn’t available, there was always someone willing to listen and help me process what I was experiencing. The group therapy sessions were wonderful and offered something for everyone, from trauma work and DBT/CBT skills to art therapy, yoga, self-esteem, and anxiety-focused groups. The facility itself is beautiful, and there were plenty of activities, events, and opportunities to connect with others outside of groups. One thing I appreciated most was that recovery wasn’t something done to me—it was something I actively participated in. You truly get out of the program what you put into it. My only suggestions would be a more comprehensive orientation for new clients (you kind of have to learn as you go. I think a sheet of paper or binder with all the rules and nuances would be fabulous). Also, having additional meal options for people with dietary restrictions (i.e. gluten free, no red meat, or vegan/vegetarian). These were minor concerns and did not significantly impact my experience. I arrived at DBHC during one of the hardest periods of my life, and I left with hope, skills, insight, and a deeper understanding of myself. I am incredibly grateful to everyone at DBHC for being part of my healing journey. ❤️”
“If I could give infinity stars I would! My loved one has been treated as a family member and I am overjoyed with grattitude for DHB and all that you've done for my loved one and my whole family. Through the painstaking journey I've been on you all walked with me and and supported my loved one everyday. Through twist and turns , valleys and mountains of SMI your team supported, cared, and embraced every challenge. The family outreach is supportive as well and offers guidance on how to help! To the clinical team and techs, you know I love what you did every day for my loved one. You gave my loved one hope and provided safety and our whole family is grateful. I've been around the country looking for help for my loved one, even moving from another state. and DHB you are a beacon! All of you are my family. This is heartfelt truth and I thank you! DUNWOODY BEHAVIORAL IS THE GOLD STANDARD for patients suffering with SMI! Thank you!”
“Finding a mental health facility where you feel your loved one is safe and also with people who genuinely care is daunting. We stumbled across the Southern Live Oak Wellness program through Dunwoody Behavioral Health from a recommendation from another program. The people who work here were all so kind. The support structure is great and assistance with concerns is prompt and thoughtful. I believe much of their empathy with our family came from their own personal life journeys. This did not feel like a hospital stay! It felt comfortable with enough autonomy to give the resident a better sense of personal control. I was told the most frustrating thing was the med line, which seems like a good sign that that's the most frustrating thing. After leaving the program, we have had staff check on us and there is continued access to parent/loved ones support group.”
