What patients say on Google

“I have been having appointments with Dr. Payton for 8 years now and I love him. He is a different breed of psychiatrist who actually takes the time to talk and get to know his patients rather than the typical “quick ten minute medication assessment” that is the common thing with psychiatrists. He has helped me tremendously over the years I have seen him with his insights and thoughts on my current life situations. He is enjoyable to discuss life’s issues with as he offers intelligent insights mixed with good humor and knowledge.”

“I got a call from a lady because I got a referral for you guys and as soon as I answered the phone she said to me hi I’m calling because of your bipolar disorder and you got a referral. First of all, she shouldn’t be saying my diagnosis on the phone like that. Secondly, she could have said that differently I’m no longer interested in scheduling with you guys. She needs to be retrained and she sounds extremely unprofessional. And when I told her that she could have said something differently, she laughed. Thank you.”

“Dr. Payton is an awesome, caring psychiatrist who truly wants to help his patients & has a great bedside manner that makes you feel instantly comfortable with him, like you've known him for years on your very 1st visit. He not only saved my life but my sons life, my marriage and kept my family together, working as a unit. The biggest improvement is that we are all truly happy for the 1st time in years, like we used to be when we 1st got together and were younger, so, therefore we had more energy. However, he must have me on the perfect medication combo because I not only feel better than I have in years, but I am 41 & feel like I'm 16 again. If you or your children have any mental issues that need treatment then I definitely recommend Dr. James B. Payton who will go above & beyond to help you in any way possible and he won't give up on you. He will keep on trying till YOU feel like hes got it just right!!!!! Thank you Dr. Payton for not only saving me & Brad, but our whole family!!!!!”

“I had a initial appointment with Dr. Payton. The appointment was set for one hour at $400. After the first hour passed, he continued to talk without need so he could charge an additional hour at $400. I was unaware of this at the time as I thought it would be the provider's responsibility to inform the patient of this charge instead of blindly leading the patient to an $800 visit. After I was informed of the additional amount I owed, I told them that how this was handled was unethical and I was not willing to pay. A bill was still sent to a previous address that I had given them, but had updated since. They sent the bill to the wrong address so I obviously did not receive this bill and was sent to collections without any phone call or email informing me. This is one of the many examples of how the mental health system is broken in our county with access to care, affordability, and practices like this being the biggest issue.”
