“Cooperris was the worst place I've ever been and a huge waste of money... If you want treatment that works I would recommend a porta potty at a subway station over cooperriis. The staff at the porta potty company is more qualified to run a mental health facility then any one of the employees at that nightmare, I'd make a comment about the owner but she was too important to talk to anyone at breakfast every morning. The CEO is a complete tool and thinks he is the most important person alive to the point of not talking to anyone every morning as was leaving from breakfast, going as far as making a snide remark to me the day I left after I complemented his glasses. His way of practicing mental health treatment was by way of arrogance and intimidation and he felt this was the way to have "positive interactions" with the consumers. The head of the RA staff had the nerve to tell me "did you ever think that if you weren't so sarcastic you might have a friend? Sorry, I'm a new yorker, sarcasm happens and is our language. When I left I was referred to a program that after applying to and leaving cooperris they ended up not accepting me 4 days later. I called cooperris and they referred me to a key lock down facility, a state run, card lock down facility complete with a fence and a women's eating disorder clinic (I'm completely a CIS gendered male). To top it all off I was told by a few residents who I had been at the center with, that the staff continued to talk negatively about me after I'd left, which is a huuuuuuugggeeee violation of HIPPA not to mention god only knows what else. The person who told me that happened to be an acquaintance of mine and told me that they told him and my GF at the time to stay far away from me. The worst thing was when I called a few months later, after being unable to find continuing care, they refused to help me when I called to get help since they referred me to non applicable centers. The head of counseling or one of the higher ups too important to even speak to a resident while I was there told me that since I wasn't currently enrolled at cooperris they couldn't help me. Attending the program at cooperriis was by far the worst mistake of my life and I wasted over $150,000 to be shown the cover of a work book, told I couldn't look at it or he couldn't copy the paragraph, which is incorrect as copyright is defined as basically a safety net so no one can replicate or sell their material for their personal gain whether it be monetary gain or otherwise or this information cannot be used in a large presentation without citing the original author. If you have any questions, I'd love to share... I could go on all day long as why you should stay as far away from cooperriis and everything to do with them. *If I am for any reason contacted by cooperriis regarding this post I will escalate it to the proper authorities.* Owner….. your facility is garbage and the worst place to send anyone that is suffering from mental illness. You almost have to have a mental illness yourself to send someone there. There is my feedback. Read it and take it to heart, the truth hurts.”

“The only thing this place has is good therapists. My mental leaving was no better then how i went in. You get treated like you’re an actual child. The place is extremely dirty they barely clean it’s like a depression house. They don’t even clean after meals. the food is awful they give you the smallest portions ( i’m 5’1 and 120 by the time i left i was 103) i was only there for 27days. I had to have a manic episode just to get food. You only get this smallest little cubby to keep your food and barely anything fits in them. You can barely have a moment to yourself someone is always knocking on your door (even if you’re in the shower) they are very likely to enter your room. Like i said the only good part was the individual therapy.”

“CooperRiis at Asheville Review I remember my three months in the summer of 2023, at CooperRiis at Asheville, quite fondly.  I was stabilized for a couple of years after that.  My only regret was not being able to stay in the program longer. I really credit the staff for their major role in stabilizing me, helping me adjust, and keeping me safe during those three months.  The staff saw me at my worst and at my best.  Somehow, they were able to help me reach a stable ground of somewhere in-between, of just being “fine”.  I really credit the special relationships I forged with the staff during that time period.  The staff kept me safe in times of manic periods, and kept me safe overall.  The staff got me thinking about Recovery and got me thinking about being well at home. I was able to receive extra counseling while I was there on Sundays, and sometimes during the week, which was so desperately needed.  I really credit Residential Evening for keeping me steady during my downtime.  The individual counseling sessions with my Team were also really helpful, as well as was Family Therapy.  The groups during the day were beneficial, too, and really added longer-term therapy and coping mechanisms to my stay. I would recommend that you stay at CooperRiis for as long as possible and go through Levels A, B, and C if you can.  This is the single, best, most important financial decision you will make for your mental health. CooperRiis takes a holistic approach, which was new and different for me.  But I benefitted greatly from this approach.  The delicious  (and new to me) Mediterranean Diet did wonders for my body for three months and taught me a lot about nutrition for mental health. Upon my return home, I was able to receive extra monthly support from the CooperRiis family education program, on a variety of interesting topics.  I also am able to keep in touch with the alumni contact person every so often.  I’ll continue to keep in touch with CooperRiis.  It was the best financial decision I ever made for myself. The staff are great, wonderful, patient people who are highly-qualified to do this job.  The staff at CooperRiis at Asheville really helps you with the road of recovery and a long-term period of stabilization.  I really miss all of the staff who were there during the Summer of 2023.  I think of you all, and Asheville, often, and remember what I have learned there.  Thank you for helping me during that time period of my life. I highly recommend CooperRiis at Asheville.”
