What patients say on Google

“I cannot express how much this place has done for me in the past few months. Aster Springs Ohio, doesn't just heal you externally, but also deep down internally. The facility itself is so welcoming. There are comfy chairs, sofas, and beds that make you feel right at home. And when you feel homesick, your treatment team and the staff will try anything to make you feel better. There are connection calls you can make at night, and every week there's some kind of outing, such as the library or the movies. When I first came, my expectations were extremely low, but for my first residential program, I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike some other programs, Aster Springs focuses on community and branching out to others for guidance, instead of the primary focus of restoration. I will say this: the food here is very tasty. I recommend the hot pastrami sandwich as well as one of the DCS's homemade pizzas. I love how in Aster Springs, everyone has a say in what they want, and you will never be unacknowledged. All of the DCS staff and RCS staff are very pleasant to talk to, especially when you are feeling low one day and your treatment team isn't available. Another thing I love about Aster Springs is the diversity of treatment from adolescents to adults. As an adolescent client, I felt like the treatment was guided towards teens, and the adult treatment was guided towards adults. I admit, hyping yourself up to go to residential isn't the easiest thing, but Aster Springs is so worth it. Recovery is so worth it. I am grateful for how they make you focus on recovery, and not numbers, by covering up labels and things like that. Whoever needs a supportive, caring, inclusive, specialized, and talented community to support their recovery, Aster Springs Ohio, is the way to go. Shoutout to Dietitian Trish and Therapist Kam for being the best treatment team ever, and helping me when things got rough. And thanks to all the DCS staff, especially you, Elena, for making such preferred food and making me smile. Thanks to Kelsey for hosting the most amazing groups, and thanks to Abbey and all the nursing staff for making sure that we're all comfortable during this process. Lastly, thank you to the entire Aster Springs staff for healing the part of me I didn't know was possible, and I would definitely recommend this facility! (past patient #thatpower)”

“I went to ASOH this year for 2 months. It helped me with a few things, definitely not all. I found hair and chunks of unknown substances in my food a lot. All the groups were pretty useless and repetitive, never really taught me anything. The staff were pretty hard to tolerate. Lowkirkenuinly I had a lot of troubles with the staff. One time they encouraged one of my roommates to vomit in the toilet. One of my friends constantly cried because her therapist, Riba, was not good for her at all. NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THAT, despite when I first came to the program they told me that if I had issues with my treatment team I could switch. I felt so bad for that girl. Dani constantly say out of pocket things. Katelyn was so hard to deal with. We would have "Community Group" to talk about our issues, and NEVER did any of the issues get resolved. She would say "I hear you, but.." and never do anything. On my last day, I had my discharge group to say goodbye to everyone. Right before I was about to say goodbye to my friends, she came in and spent 10+ minutes talking about how her son got bullied at school as if we were supposed to help with that. Then I heard the doorbell ring, and I knew I was getting picked up. I had a total of like 45 seconds to say goodbye to everyone because Katelyn was talking the entire time. Katelyn also decided it was a good idea to set up a rewards system. An issue was created by a past patient, and we had to fill out 12 page form about the issue. Obviously some people complained, I don't know what made her think literal children in residential wouldn't complain; anyway, she decided that the people who complained would NOT be allowed to go get starbucks, and she took everyone else to get starbucks. Mind you, MOST OF THE PEOPLE COMPLAINED GOT TO GO. Obviously not including me lmfao. However, my treatment team was amazing. I really loved Kam, she was the sweetest and most helpful therapist to talk to. I also made a lot of friends and met people who I really care about now. I would probably not recommend ASOH to anyone, but at least some things were good (my therapist, my friends.) I don't think I could ever say I "recovered", I am still pretty disordered, but at least I got to make connections with people! - Adolescent in PHP and Residential (P.P Nat)”

“I had a great experience with Aster Springs. Both my dietitian and therapist were very perceptive and caring. I appreciated not being judged when working through things in therapy and dietary sessions. Another thing I really appreciated was that drama was kept to a minimum. As with any place there is always room for some improvement. I wish rules were more consistent across the board so that they would be easier to understand. Lastly, I wish that the requirements to participate in outings or physical activity were not tied entirely to completion rates and took into account peoples individual experiences. Other than those two things the place is clean and staff is friendly.”
