How likely are you to recommend Altahir Behavioral Health?
“I had a very disappointing experience with Altahir Behavioral Health, especially regarding their scheduling process. I scheduled an appointment for a family member and completed all required forms. Five days before the appointment, I even called to confirm, and I was told everything was set and the appointment was confirmed. However, on the day of the appointment—while I was already driving and about 30 minutes away (after a 1-hour drive)—they called to cancel. They said they had just reviewed the documents and insurance and needed additional authorization and clarification. This should have been handled well before the appointment date. What made the situation worse was the lack of clear communication and accountability. Even the staff member, Rebecca, seemed unsure about why the appointment was being canceled and said she didn’t have an answer when I asked for clarification. If there was an issue with insurance or paperwork, it should have been identified at least 24 hours in advance so patients aren’t left in this situation after already traveling. Cancelling at the last minute is extremely unprofessional and inconvenient. Overall, based on this experience, I would not recommend them due to poor communication and unreliable scheduling.”
“Dr. Altahir and the team at Altahir Behavioral Health have been professional, thoughtful, and easy to work with. Our appointment was thorough, and Dr. Altahir took the time to listen carefully and understand the full situation before making recommendations. I especially appreciate the willingness to coordinate with other professionals involved in my son’s care so that everyone is working toward the same goal. That level of collaboration and attention to detail makes a big difference for families navigating both medical and school systems. Overall, a very positive experience and a practice I would recommend.”
“Extremely disappointed and concerned with how this office handled a serious medication safety issue. The provider was out of the office for two weeks, and we were never informed. When we requested to see another provider due to concerning side effects, we were denied simply because the patient had not previously seen those providers. What is most alarming is that the office did not arrange for a qualified provider to review the situation and determine whether the medication should be continued, stopped, or adjusted for Scheduled substance medication. Instead, an office staff member who was not a licensed medical provider instructed us to continue taking the medication for two more weeks until our doctor returned. We again explained that the side effects were concerning and asked if she is still telling us continuing the medication . We were still told to continue taking it. Patients should not be put in a position where urgent medication concerns are dismissed and decisions about continuing a medication are made without appropriate medical oversight. A responsible medical practice should have coverage in place when a provider is unavailable and ensure patients receive timely care from qualified professionals. This experience left us feeling unheard, unsafe, and extremely disappointed in the way this office handled a serious concern.”
“Dangerous! Do not seek medical treatment from Altahir behavioral health. They are negligent! Was seeking treatment for my 5 year old son. We changed medications and told to call or message if symptoms do not improve. His behavior became a safety issue yet no return calls. Can’t reach a soul. It’s been 5 days, 3 phone calls and 2 emails with no call back. All I get from reception is “we will pass along your message and go to ER if it’s that bad”. Begged his therapist for a new psychiatrist. Apparently this issue is well known with him as multiple doctors I spoke to said they have heard he does this. We deserve better. Do better!”
