“Update 5/22 1:10pm: While visiting a different business in the area, I got charged up by the owner. Today I was minding my business about town, about to start work at a local coffee shop, and the owner of this business approached and confronted me aggressively about leaving this review. Ignoring the fact that I said this isnt a good time to talk, he got in my face, stating over and over that it's not true, and insisting on my engagement. He was upset and kept trying to force the subject on me. This made me feel unsafe, and I feel this constitutes as harassment; I will be reporting it accordingly. My original review reflects my real personal experience. The sad thing is that if it had been a genuine matter of misunderstanding, if I was approached differently (i.e. not publicly cornered against my wishes) we might have been able to talk about it. But seeing as that was not the case, further contact is a risk I don't accept. Original review: My experience at Yaad Wellness Center has been disheartening, to say the least. What should have been a simple, mutual, restorative exchange instead revealed a concerning absence of follow-through. I spent five hours tending to the studio’s plants — watering, pruning, refreshing soil, and using my own materials, including leaving my personal grow light behind to help revive a struggling plant. When I stopped by the next day, I was met not with acknowledgment, but with an awkward dismissal and a request to “just text.” So I did. He never responded. Eleven days passed with no acknowledgment. I asked for my grow light to be left outside for pickup. It wasn’t — not in the morning, not in the evening. I ultimately retrieved it myself during a public event, where no one seemed to know anything about it. One of the reasons I offered my time so freely was because the owner presented the space as a sanctuary for Black and Indigenous people of color — a role that carries real weight given the long history behind why such sanctuaries are needed. To be met with this level of disregard, after contributing labor in good faith, was deeply unexpected. The classes themselves may be excellent; I sat in on both a Capoeira and a Qigong class and genuinely enjoyed them. This review reflects only my direct experience with a single exchange, not the classes themselves. But my experience with the studio’s integrity has left a lasting impression. If you enter into any exchange beyond a class fee, set clear written terms. My experience showed that verbal agreements and goodwill may not be met with reciprocal integrity.”
“Tagan at Yaad’s wellness has been amazing- probably one the of the best practicioners ive been to. I’ve struggled with a lower back/upper glute issue for the past couple months and he’s helped neutralize the pain. Additionally he was able to spot that my lymph nodes were an issue, and helped drain the problematic areas. I’ll be back in the future when there’s more to do/ a continuation. Highly recommend”
“I’ve been working with Tagan at Yaad Wellness for over a year. Through accupuncture and Qi Gong, Tagan helps me take good care of my body. He shows up everyday with a genuine care that radiates in every interaction. I have recommended his work to many friends and will continue to do so.”
“Since my first visit to Yaad Wellness back in September 2022, I have received the most grounding, holistic care from Taganyahu Swaby. His treatments alway come with a level of kindness and compassion, which goes a long way especially when tending to ailments beyond only the physical. To this day, I still seek his healing modalities whenever I can, and each time I leave feeling more balanced of mind, body, and soul. I'm very grateful to have found his practice, and would highly recommend checking it out.”
