“I really like this location. I sought out a nurse practitioner last fall, as I felt I may be struggling with undiagnosed ADHD, and have been unable to kick smoking weed in abundance every day for over a decade. I originally went somewhere else to be told that I likely have Bipolar, which became an issue because that provider was hesitant to up my antidepressant, and instead, gave me a larger prescription of a controlled drug that I already took as-needed for anxiety. When I finally did go up with my antidepressant after a great deal of insisting, I felt so much better, and experienced no mania, but still - my provider was hung up on the idea of Bipolar. They never spoke about taking steps to formally investigate if I do have Bipolar, and I felt frustrated, and shamed for my weed use that I really did want to stop, but couldn’t seem to stop.. while being overprescribed a pretty hard drug for anxiety. My time at this last location ended when I was told to seek out a rehab for my weed use, and was greatly shamed for continuing to struggle with it. I dropped that provider, and came here, and although I still am new, I have been really refreshed by this establishment. I didn’t even remember my curiosity about ADHD during my first appointment here, but the NP immediately suspected it with me. She asked me to quit smoking for 30 days so that I could be properly tested, and was very gentle and lovely about it, saying how I could always go back to it after 30 days. I failed at first, and felt terrible, and was afraid to call the office, but when I did, I was met with a great deal of understanding, and the nurse on the phone even had me count out my antidepressants with her to ensure that I had enough before we rescheduled the appointment. I thought that was so kind and responsible, and showed a genuine care in my mental health. Anyways, I made it to 30 days, got tested, and lo and behold, I have ADHD! Pretty badly, in fact, lol. I had never been told before that ADHD can contribute to substance addictions like mine with weed. My NP explained this to me, and explained how bad of a reputation ADHD medications get, and how really, this other as-needed medication I was getting prescribed for daily use was more dangerous. She has no issue with marijuana, but took me seriously about my feelings of being addicted to it. All in all, I feel like this NP is great at what she does, and the other workers are also extremely helpful and lovely. I have began an ADHD medication and am seeing huge differences that I never expected, and I do feel more “complete,” and feel less of a desire to even feel a need for weed for the first time. I highly recommend this place.”
