“I find it very troubling that many prescribers or their practice have a policy of no stimulant medications if someone is not working a paid job or in school. First, this disproportionately affects me and other women, who will perform the majority of unpaid household work around the globe or gig work that is sporadic and not wages. I have 3 kids 7 and under with two of them being autistic and one is both ADHD and autistic. Secondly, I think it's incredibly disrespectful to minimize the effort it takes to be a stay at home parent or partner, just because it doesn't come with a W2. ITS UNPAID WORK!!!! LAST.. it also ignores the fact that someone may be unable to work or attend school until they receive appropriate treatment! I just had a double mastectomy and cannot work at the moment but I still have to get up nearly every day to help get my kids ready for daycare and ABA therapy. Doctors don't refuse to prescribe insulin to a Type 2 diabetic because they are eating poorly or not losing weight, but it's okay to refuse to provide the gold standard of treatment for a disorder because... Only people getting paid or going to school deserve it? The Woman's Behavioral Clinic nurse practitioner told me that we would try one more time with the current meds and then towards the end of my appointment, she decided to change her mind. The meds that she prescribed, I told her they don't work. She proceeds to ask how long did I take them and I told her about a month. SHE TOLD ME THATS NOT LONG ENOUGH TO SEE RESULTS..,BUT SHE STILL PROCEEDS TO PRESCRIBE A TWO WEEK PRESCRIPTION??? Like come on. In her words, that's not long enough but she continues to send a TWO WEEK PRESCRIPTION to the pharmacy. I've been taking (what was my current meds at the time) a cocktail that has worked for me FOR YEARS!!! She DIDN'T EVEN WEAN ME OFF the medication (I asked if she could prescribe a lower dose). She was not listening. When I first met her, I was so happy because at the time, I had finally felt seen and heard. By my second appointment (because I had switch to the woman's network since being diagnosed with cancer and location) it's like she flipped the switch!! I cried so much.. even while explaining she just was not hearing anything. Then she put me out saying she had another patient and we were over the allotted time. I didn't see anyone but a young lady at the check-in desk when I was walking out. I couldn't do anything but cry in my car!! I cried all day at home..stayed in the bed all day. My kids weren't used to seeing me like that!! This lady was more concerned about guideline requirements than my health. And for her to say we'll try it one more time then changer her mind? No wean or anything. And if I had known she was going to do that, I would've weaned myself off before my next appointment!!!!! It's a dangerous situation. Then she asked while putting me out of her office, if I feel like I'm gonna harm myself or others?? I would never give you that satisfaction lady.. I've came too far in my life (even with having cancer), to give up on life and hurt myself or ANYONE ELSE!! I feel that legislation needs to address it or someone to bring suit based on that fact that this clearly discriminates and disproportionately affects women and prevents ACCESS TO PROPER CARE. It's a diabolical requirement that affects so my people like me.. The ONE STAR is ONLY for the lady at the front desk because she was really nice and helpful. But I wish I wouldn't have swapped doctors because it's been hell since being denied medication that's worked for me for years!!”

“Update: Minus 1 star. I had an extremely disappointing experience today. Despite living 45 minutes away, I arrived 10 minutes late for my 3:30 PM appointment due to unavoidable traffic caused by a double-wide trailer being transported on a two-lane road. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed me that the system would not allow her to proceed with my appointment because I was one minute past the grace period. I requested to use the remaining time of my appointment, but this request was denied. While I understand the importance of adhering to scheduling policies, I have been without my medication for almost a month due to a shortage. My previous appointment, scheduled two months ago, provided only a one-month supply, leaving me in a difficult situation. This experience was particularly distressing, and I had a breakdown in the parking lot afterward. Although I take responsibility for my late arrival, I wish the office could have shown more understanding given my circumstances. The doctor would still have been compensated, and we would have stayed within the allotted appointment time. (Reason for 40 minute mental breakdown in parking lot) Conclusion- never ever, ever, ever be late for a appointment. First review I have been a patient of Dr. Flechas for several years, and each visit reaffirms why I continue to choose his practice for my needs. Dr. Flechas and his staff consistently demonstrate an exceptional level of professionalism and genuine compassion. One of the most notable aspects of Dr. Flechas' approach is his commitment to truly listening to me. He takes the time to understand not just the symptoms, but also the underlying causes. Moreover, Dr. Flechas' goes above and beyond to ensure I feel heard, understood, and supported throughout my treatment process. This level of empathy is rare to find in healthcare providers, and it truly sets Dr. Flechas apart.”
