How likely are you to recommend West Michigan Psychological Services?
“I can't say enough good things about West Michigan Psychological Services (WMPS). From the moment I reached out, I felt like my daughter was in caring and capable hands. The team at WMPS is incredibly compassionate and truly focused on making a difference in their clients' lives. They offer a wide range of services, whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or just need some extra support. I was especially impressed by the flexibility they offer—both virtual and in-person sessions are available, which made it so much easier to fit therapy into my schedule. Their therapists are not only skilled and knowledgeable but also genuinely caring. It’s clear they’re dedicated to helping people become “unstuck” and achieve their personal goals. Whether you’re in Holland or the surrounding Lakeshore communities, WMPS is a trusted and valuable resource for mental health support. I’m grateful to have found them!”
“I have not written reviews for any psychological services throughout my history, but my experience with the billing staff compelled me to write about the difficulties experienced by a Meridian Medicaid beneficiary. Policy-wise, in-network providers are contractually obligated to honor authorizations for treatment (even if it is only a partial authorization). If the psychologist requires the full authorization without reduction, the provider (WMPS) is required to submit an appeal on behalf of the client. In my recent experience, the staff member in question told me that they could not bill Meridian, and that they were unable to submit an appeal because it would "not help." The staff member has violated the contractual obligations that Meridian Medicaid established when they decided to be an in-network provider. The obligation being that they need to either (a) accept the determination or (b) appeal the reduction, and they absolutely cannot coerce Medicaid beneficiaries into a 100% self-pay contract. Because the staff member in question violated contractual obligations, I would not recommend Medicaid patients seek care at this facility. However, it should be noted that this reflection does not apply to the psychologists - they are incredibly caring and are not to blame for WMPS's billing staff's unawareness of the contractual obligations of being an in-network provider. Also too, the front desk person is congenial - I would not blame them either.”
“NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. I’ve been seen at the grand haven location and have had issues with them NEVER answering the phone or getting back to me after leaving multiple voicemails for med refills. I switched to the holland location with high hopes and I’ve been calling and leaving voicemails for a whole week with NOTHING. They preach mental health, but them never being available is horrible for it since I have to worry if I can even get my meds refilled. Also, don’t even bother with the email they listed in these reviews, it doesn’t even go through.”
“I was referred to this office because they stated in writing, “We do accept Medicaid” and that they would verify my insurance before scheduling. No credit card or HSA was listed as a requirement. After I completed extensive intake paperwork in their patient portal, I was told a credit card or HSA is required to schedule. As a fully disabled Medicaid patient with zero income, I have no copays or deductibles, and Medicaid does not include HSAs. This policy creates a barrier to access and makes their claim of accepting Medicaid dishonest.”
