“I stopped spiraling after over a month, since my last contact with Valley Oaks. I struggle mentally and regress to cope with a lifetime of trauma, and I have neurological episodes where I need to self-isolate or go mute. I have Autism, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, cPTSD, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Dysthymia. It took my whole life to know these things because of my family’s abuse and being unable to retain healthcare. I show signs of multiple genetic and neurological conditions as well. VO never took me in for anything tangible. It was only to talk to their people about what to do next, which never seemed to happen. I had multiple appointments, but never even got an X-ray for the bone spur in my right ankle. I was told by staff to “respect myself, respect those around me, and to respect where I am.” I agree, and yet the staff would retaliate any time I struggled to keep up with demands. I couldn’t respect myself after I was sick in their Hybrid Program and managing a broken thermostat on my own. My calls went unanswered for weeks, and I snapped. After about 2 months, I had a meeting with the guy who ran the program. When he was done yelling about my behavior, he stated that moving me was the only way forward, and I said that I wanted to be alone but needed support to stay safe and healthy. I had to learn to take recordings from a friend, to hold myself and the people in my life accountable, because I hope to someday recover from my past abuse. In the records I received after discharge, the ones they refused to let me access until after discharge, they labeled me as “aggressive” multiple times. When they discharged me, they said I was “refusing services, refusing to take medications, and verbally and physically aggressive.” If you ask questions about meds and services, they will walk out of appointments, refuse to see you for weeks or months at a time, and use tactics to manipulate you and blame it on your behavior. They will retaliate if you are upset or have a meltdown. Then, when they stop answering your calls and you limp to their offices, they will discharge you from all services coldly. They advertise “daily contact with service providers” on their website. I rarely had access to the same services as my roommate, who got rides to a grocery store while I walked through snow to spend my SNAP and the money I begged for. On my birthday, they kept knocking on my door, making daily appointments and visits to my room and home. It felt like I went from being neglected to being overwhelmed. Then Dave evicted me. When I met him to ask about it, he said it wasn’t an eviction. It was. I asked for help finding a new place and if I was still in the program, and my case worker and him both said yes. For weeks they told me I would not be dropped after moving until I believed them. As I moved into this new place, with months of sleep deprivation from my loud roommate and traumatic nightmares, they had me sign paperwork with myself as the guarantor, which they lied and said was normal. I was too scared to step out of line. I begged for help almost daily. If I made mistakes, it was because I listened to those at Valley Oaks. They refused access to my records for months and had meetings in private over my case, against my wishes. I begged for months to talk about my case directly and know who was presiding over it. David never responded to my calls. He was the one who said this was “the consequences of my actions” and he only met a few times before discharging all services. I lack common sense and the ability to relate to my peers, however, I am not deserving of being abandoned as a mere “consequence,” and I’d be ashamed to do that to someone. I lost SNAP due to them not changing my address and not knowing how myself, but I managed to recover. I was taken off many lists I now need again, and I’ve applied in a haze. I have to restart with whatever I can find, fast. Punishment does NOT equal consequences, and in a healthcare setting, this was beyond traumatic. Even if I have flaws, you should not have to "earn" healthcare.”
“I dont know how these guys are still able to legally operate. Tried to establish primary care here. Israel Nieto is the most hot headed, incompetent little man I've ever met. Called me a liar when parkview hospital in Logansport told me that NP Nieto should be giving me adequate care for pain, he then yells at me on the phone to find another doctor, AND THEN hangs up on me. Still waiting on NP Supit (the equally incompetent NP they gave me instead of Nieto) to respond to me or my pharmacy regarding a refill. Not to mention she tried to prescribe me Cymbalta for my chronic bladder and kidney disorder. After reporting both of their do-nothing physicians to a higher up named Shantel, I've been ghosted by her and the entire office after leaving multiple messages with my contact information. I've given these guys every opportunity that I possibly can, but it's time to call them out. Their medication policies are absolutely ridiculous, they'll bring you back a week later just to bill your insurance, their communication is HORRIBLE, they don't care about your care or your comfort, and they have little interest in you other than getting you out the door. Shameful behavior in a building full of "professionals." Absolutely shameful.”
“Okay so valley oaks health is spoken very highly of you show up for your initial appointment the very nice building a lot of parking they get you in they're very polite they get you in and out of the waiting room quickly but if you are there for addiction treatment and you're needing help right away don't waste your time turn right back around cuz there it is April 2nd I'm going to be out of meds in 2 days and they tell me they can't get me in until June or even write me a couple bridge scripts”
“In my recent experience counselors are friendly, take concerns into consideration, they have been helpful with recomendations and referrals and scheduling ahead has been easier with the attentive staff ive dealt with”
