What patients say on Google

“I am so very grateful for Valerie as my therapist. I have never had a therapist take the level of time that she did to really get to know me and what I am struggling with, and I feel so seen with her. She is warm, has a great sense of humor, and is incredibly knowledgeable. She validates where I am but also challenges me. Recently sessions have help me really cut down to some core issues (I have CPTSD, anxiety, and ADHD) and it’s been so clarifying and enlightening. I think reprocessing all this would have been too painful without a therapist like her. She really cares. I would recommend her and her practice to anyone struggling.”

“I've seen a few therapists over the years, and Valerie was the first one I connected with almost immediately. During our first session she noticed the tattoo on my wrist that says "Until the Darkness Claims Us." She pointed to it and asked, "Mannon Blackbeak?" I was like WHAAAT? It's from my favorite book series and not something most people recognize. That sounds like such a small thing but it mattered It made me feel like she actually saw me as a person. Not just a diagnosis, not just another client on her schedule What I appreciate most is that Valerie is easy to talk to I never feel judged, and I don't feel like I'm talking to someone who is just nodding and waiting for the hour to end She remembers things, catches patterns I don't see, and somehow manages to challenge me while still making me feel supported.”

“Valerie at Valiant Minds Counseling is seriously so good at what she does. She has this way of explaining things where it just clicks. Especially with ADHD, I’ve never felt more understood. It’s like she can connect dots in my brain that I didn’t even know were related. Also, she’s the perfect mix of chill and real. Like you feel comfortable immediately, but she’s also not going to let you keep getting in your own way. She’ll say what needs to be said, but in a way that makes you feel supported, not attacked. It’s honestly kind of impressive. I was worried therapy would just be me talking in circles, but every session actually feels productive. I leave with actual strategies and things to work on, and I’ve noticed a real difference in how I handle my life. Less chaos, more “okay I got this.” And you can tell she actually cares. It doesn’t feel like a job to her, it feels like she genuinely wants to help you do better. If you’re debating it, just book the appointment.”

“I’ve been seeing Val for a little over a year, and she has had an incredible impact on my life. I felt comfortable talking to her from my very first appointment. Val is understanding, empathetic, and open in a way that makes difficult subjects easier to talk about. I have no doubt that she is always in my corner. She doesn’t tell me what I want to hear, she tells me what I need to hear in a way that’s reassuring and supportive - even when I don’t want to hear it. She’s gentle but direct, and doesn’t just let things slide. She approaches the topics I avoid in a way that doesn’t make me defensive or feel ashamed. She challenges me to grow with hard questions that lead to small but impactful changes. And the resources! I’ve never had a therapist before who recommended or provided books, articles, videos, sites, and ideas the way she does. I don’t always utilize those resources (sorry Val!), but she still makes sure I know those resources are available. If you’re looking for a new therapist, I highly recommend giving Valiant Minds a call.”
