What patients say on Google
“As a direct support professional who accompanied a client with intellectual and developmental disabilities to this appointment, I left feeling very disappointed by our experience. I want to start by acknowledging that I understand providers have busy schedules, and I also recognize that our client does not enjoy medical appointments. He can become distracted and require frequent redirection, which is part of why he receives care through this specialty clinic. We appreciate that these appointments can be challenging, and we always do our best to help keep him engaged and on track. The resident who completed the initial portion of the visit was patient, kind, and respectful. Unfortunately, our experience changed significantly once the attending physician joined the appointment. Throughout the visit, the communication felt dismissive and lacking in compassion. Rather than helping redirect the conversation in a calm, supportive way, the interactions came across as impatient and abrupt. As caregivers, we understand that appointments need to stay on schedule, but there is a respectful way to communicate with patients, families, and support staff, especially in a clinic that specializes in caring for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. At the end of the appointment, I politely asked if a required form for our client’s residential program could be completed. I had already provided the form earlier in the visit and explained what was needed. Instead of a professional explanation if it could not be completed, my request was dismissed in a manner that felt unnecessarily curt and disrespectful. Compassion, patience, and communication are just as important as clinical knowledge in this field. I left feeling that our client and the staff advocating for him, deserved to be treated with more kindness and respect. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken constructively, because every patient, regardless of their abilities or behaviors, deserves to feel respected during their medical appointments.”
“I have been a patient at UPMC comprehensive recovery care for 13 years. I’ve had the same therapist Tiffany Ivery who is amazing in their profession. During my 13 years I’ve gained a lot of insight into my mental illness and have received unconditional support. Thank you to my treatment team for your support over numerous occasions and exceptional mental health treatment over the years!”
“The Dr's, Dr Tessier, nurses and the clinical staff are so amazing. They all truly care about the patients individual needs. They don't force their opinions on to the patient. Most importantly they they are not judgmental. Thank God for them and the selfless work they are doing to save lives. Thank you all for everything you have done for me!”
“Great building with fantastic views. Parking valet was EXTREMELY RUDE though.”
