How likely are you to recommend University of Virginia Health System : Outpatient Psychiatric Services?
“I had to report them to the Department of Health Professionals for being physically attacked by a fellow patient. I wasn't believed until footage was reviewed and the situation was seen as well, if I wasn't there it wouldn't have happened. They also lost all my clothes. They need to be shut down.”
“I can't say enough about this organization how disappointed I am with their services and their doctors and their interns. I came there 7 years ago when I move South from Connecticut. I was diagnosed as a child and then a teenager and then an adult as having adhd. When I moved down here to take care of my father I came to UVA for counseling and medication. Where I was misdiagnosed with depression with alcohol abuse no I haven't had a drink in 2 years. I was told I would see a therapist that would be there for 2 years for the residency. But what in turn happened is I had five different therapists in 2 years. Each one starting over from the start again. I was told that they don't prescribe ADHD medication because they were remanded by the state for giving out way too much to patients that didn't need it. Now after years of paying for medication that I didn't need spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on medications that I did not need and did nothing but make my condition worse. They also put me through two 3-hour ADHD tests to have this organization that was doing these tests say that I just needed therapy and that I didn't have ADHD. Well in the last 2 years I've been diagnosed by five doctors for having adhd. In fact they said I was the poster child for adhd.I've been taking my ADHD medicine for 2 years now and I've become a normal person and a functioning human again. If I could sue them I would but they make you sign a waiver when you first get there. Stay away from this place like the plague, especially adolescence and pediatrics. I wish I had looked at the reviews earlier and I would have gotten away from this place. I have a wonderful GP at UVA but please stay away from psychiatry here they were just destroy your life they don't care.”
“Not terrible if you're going here temporarily (like as a student from UVA), but I would not go here for complex issues. I did research and met with a therapist for a while before going, so I knew what my problems were and what I should expect from a psychiatrist, and so I didn't have any problems getting the medication I needed. Having experienced the training psychiatrists and their rotations every 3-6 months, I can absolutely understand the other reviews about this clinic and I don't doubt their experiences at all.”
“I actually don't have any complaints about the staff or doctors. I've found everyone to be professional, and both doctors that I've seen have been great, but the pricing here is awful. It's erratic, changes for seemingly no reason, and you never know what you'll end up owing for a visit until you get the bill. I have UVA insurance, and and it's still bizarrely expensive. I've had the same 'check in' type appointments for years, where I'm just touching base to say nothing has changed, and to renew 1 prescription. It takes less than 5 minutes, and the last few have been virtual, but yet the cost for these appointments just inexplicably doubled. You can write in to billing, and you can call, but you'll get different answers--and no one will be able to explain why a 5 minute check-in with a doctor is now almost $200. The pricing is beyond ridiculous, especially for someone with insurance, and I'm horrified by what they're charging. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what other alternatives I have, which makes it feel like whoever is in charge of billing is taking advantage of that. It makes me sad that this is a group of people that anyone would hold captive to outrageous prices, because what else are they going to do?”
