What patients say on Google

“I went in for a mental health assessment, I had had my life savings stolen from me, over 80 grand, my home and property, this left me in homelessness, living out of a car. I now understand what I went through was betrayal trauma, while having CPTSD from childhood trauma and sexual assault. I was manic and depressed because I was living on the streets but unc saw a opportunity to make money. I showed up voluntarily, but that shortly changed. I was separated from all of my personal property. My car keys were took from me and I was informed that I was no longer allowed to leave… even though I came in willingly and to look for help. I don’t remember five days of my stay, I’m aware that I had a seizure, from medication’s that Chapel Hill put me on. They had me on 4 to 6 different medication’s in less than a week! Lithium, Ativan, Seroquel and more .. When I asked about a psychiatric evaluation, an assessment… I was told that they had no clinical psychologist on site. Nor do they do assessments at this hospital, even though they’re rated number two in the country. Makes me sick what they are doing. They have put big farm before patient care! They don’t do assessments so that they can treat patients like guinea pigs! They force these poor people medication and get them to a baseline of normal, send them back out to the community, only for these people to have to return less than a year later for different medication. They are not diagnosing patients with mental health problems, they are simply sticking a Band-Aid on it , with dangerous medication’s. For instance, Seroquel is never to be prescribed for sleep. Good doctors, do not prescribe mental health drugs to help patients sleep! UNC Chapel Hill, put me on Seroquel without telling me the side effects and without disclosing information that I would be sick for almost a month after coming off of it. During my stay, they also put me on Xanaxs Cousin, Ativan, this is why I don’t remember the week I was there. Ativan is never to be given to anyone that is in recovery from opiates. SMH These people put my five year recovery on the line, attempting to get me strung out on medication’s that I would have to come back and spend money for. It’s been a full year, since I was in this mental hospital, I have received private therapy, and it was revealed to me that I went through betrayal trauma, which re-injured my psyche, because I already suffered from CPTSD. Chapel Hill never cared to take this information, nor did they care to pull any medical records from my past, they did not even ask me for my therapist phone number! I was actively in Therapy when I showed up to Chapel Hill to receive some kind of inpatient care, they pulled zero medical files! 0. I had a seizure from the medication’s that they gave me in the hospital, and when I finally came to, I started refusing the medication’s. Especially when I found out they’ve been giving me Xanax essentially. This is where they held me against my will, I requested for 3 1/2 days to go home before they finally discharged me. But not without letting me have a prescription of Seroquel, which would take me three weeks of hell to come off of! IMO they do not diagnose mental health conditions at this hospital because they want to use patients as test subjects. They want to get the patient stable enough to go home and most of these people return six months to a year later in another mental health crisis and they have a medication switch. This is extremely dangerous. And I feel sorry for anyone that has been a victim of UNC Chapel Hill , you’re not alone💯”
