What patients say on Google

“I want to start off by saying my therapist and NP are wonderful. This review is more about the company itself. The clinical supervisor of the Chestnut St. location I went to is clearly not doing their job. My therapist had an emergency and told the supervisor to let me know the day before my appointment. I received no communication, and showed up the next day. I could not get in touch with my therapist, so I spent the entire day worried about her well-being. When I told my therapist what happened at our next session, she was mortified. She had to call my cell phone number to prove to the supervisor that she could have easily contacted me about my therapist's absence in advance. This isn't all! I just followed the NP I started seeing at Thriveworks to a different practice (small group practice with fewer practitioners and locations). I learned that Thriveworks had stripped their NPs of their salary and benefits, and are now only paying the NPs hourly. But there's more! My therapist left the practice unexpectedly due to medical reasons. I called the practice to ask for another therapist. The receptionist booked an intake with another therapist and assured me that he took my insurance. I got an email two days before my appointment saying it was cancelled because the practitioner did not take my insurance. I have not received care in over a month because my former therapist had been sick, and my new appointment was cancelled. No follow-up, just an email instructing ME to call the practice and reschedule, as if it was my fault for trying to set up the appointment in the first place. After all of this, I am looking to do therapy elsewhere. Unfortunately, issues like this are typical for large companies that provide therapy. Great clinicians who get no support from the business side (I did not even mention that my therapist had to correct the billing department on their mistake of overcharging me hundreds of dollars). I would not recommend. Check out group practices that are owned by ACTUAL clinicians rather than business people who cut costs and treat their employees poorly.”

“I had a terrible experience with Thriveworks. My provider Katelyn Schaffer caused me serious problems, and would not take any responsibility for her bad advice and her lack of follow through when I contacted her about the problem. I warn people not to use this service. When I tried to file a complaint I was told there weren’t any supervisors available and never received a return call. I will be contacting my insurance company who referred me to them to begin with, so they know about the bad service they are referring to, the appropriate overseeing board of psychiatry, the Better Business Bureau, and any other applicable agencies. Additionally, The Thriveworks provider also violated HIPPA by faxing information to my PCP without my written consent.”

“My mother has been attending therapy sessions with Marissa and she tells me that she feels much better after every session! Marissa has been very kind and understanding, which means a lot to my mom. I’m so glad that we came across Thriveworks and were able to receive such great help!!”
