“The first psychiatry meeting was awful. The provider stayed on the call for maybe 15 minutes and looked bored and annoyed the entire time. She stared at me blankly every time I responded to her very basic questions. She did not ask me to detail what I’ve been feeling, or how it has manifested. She then prescribed me two medications and said she’d talk to me in 2 weeks. I’ve been to two psychiatrists before, so I knew this was not how the initial meeting was supposed to go. They usually last 45 mins - 1 hour so the provider can get to know the symptoms and patient. I called the Thriveworks hotline to detail this awful experience and to find a new provider. They were very helpful and set me up with a new appointment with a different provider. I hope the next appointment is better. I feel bad for anyone in a deep mental health crisis who books with the provider I saw.”
