“Ashton Burleson was my 5yr old daughter’s play therapist briefly before she dismissed us as a client unannounced and without a check-in to see what happened first. When we signed up to start seeing her we agreed we could only come at 4pm no earlier due to school schedules being out at 3:30. It was reluctantly agreed upon by the office. We were seeing her to help with my child be comfortable with becoming verbal to strangers and anxiety management. We are due with our 2nd and wanted to help ease the transition of a new baby for her. I’ll be honest, leaving my daughter in a room without a parent was hard for me. That’s a trust you don’t form easily with anyone let alone a complete stranger in a new facility. She was being see weekly for an hour a week. It became common to communicate via text with Ashton as she encouraged that in our parent meeting. She reached out to let me know she couldn’t attend a session and would see us the following week- that following week she urged us to come in sooner (I rejected this offer due to scheduling) and reminded her of the conflict of timing. She said that was totally fine and she’d see us at our normal hour. A snow day came up and I naturally assumed as schools and works were shut down we would not be seen (I know I ought to have checked sooner) I texted her that night when we were settled in and she said it was no big deal and we’d see her next week via text message. (Apparently they were open) Upon what would have been our most recent visit, I honestly forgot the appointment and what day it was - I’d been handling some of my own health issues that day and rushed to pick up my kid from school on time. A mistake I take credit for. When I realized what had occurred I went to text Ashton as now a normal method of contact- and saw first she emailed me. It was a letter to dismiss my daughter from her care. Written only 30 or so minutes after her scheduled appointment with zero warning or check in with our family. We could have had anything happen for all she knew - and it wasn’t a concern or care to her obviously. The time she wrote the email said it all- 30 minutes post appointment time- she wasn’t worried about finding out why we hadn’t showed up. Unbelievable- I am a professional myself and in my field I would never dismiss a client prior to a check-in or understanding of why they went MIA. I was stunned honestly. I didn’t expect that and my daughter had JUST began to establish her routine and relationship with her therapist. She asked why we haven’t been going recently and I didn’t know how to respond. I understand and take credit for my part in forgetting the visit on the 2nd notice. That said, I emailed her back to let her know I felt super pushed off and frankly saddened by that rash decision without a call or text and never got any response back. Cold. That’s how I would describe the experience.”
“We had to do a late reschedule due to exams and they were closed Memorial Day so we rescheduled for Thursday and I forgot the appointment due to my daughter was in the hospital and they dropped us as a client. Tells me there about money not the well being of the child. Beware before your child goes and trust there personal feelings with someone and get comfortable and they drop them.”
“I cannot say enough good things about my Thrive therapist, Carroll Harris. She has created a space where I feel truly seen, heard, and supported - even when I'm struggling to put words to what I'm feeling. Her compassion, insight, and patience have helped me understand myself in ways I wasn't able to before. Therapy with her feels safe, grounding, and healing. I am so incredibly grateful for her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for meaningful supportive care.”
“Our family has had such a positive experience working with Monique. From the very first session, she created a safe, welcoming environment where everyone felt heard and understood. She has an incredible way of helping us communicate better, navigate tough conversations, and grow stronger as a family. We are so grateful for the guidance, compassion, and practical tools we’ve gained. I honestly couldn’t imagine having never met her, she has changed our lives forever and I continue to be so grateful for that outlet.”
