How likely are you to recommend The Meadows Outpatient Center, Chicago?
What patients say on Google
“We are grateful to have a resource like the Meadows Outpatient Center in the Chicagoland area! Their Love, Sexuality, and Trauma track is a unique and special offering that really “sees” clients who are struggling in their intimate relationships. We appreciate the Meadows staff and their commitment to thinking creatively about supporting clients and their families, every step of the way.”
“I’ve referred a number of patients here and the work that Meadows does is holistic, life changing and followed by great coordination of discharge services. Absolutely recommend this institution as a place where individuals go to grow during life’s hardest transitions.”
“Make sure you do your due diligence in researching neurofeedback; when I was there, they caused more harm than good. **EDIT: it was due to inexperienced techs, not neurofeedback therapy as a whole.”
“I have some serious concerns about the professionalism & neutrality/demeanor of one of the clinicians involved with this program. Betrayal trauma from years of addiction, lying, repeated discoveries, and trickle truth can seriously affect a partner, let alone anyone they’re close to. When someone keeps giving chances after every new disclosure, just to later find out there was still more being hidden, being hyperaware + constantly feeling like you need to verify what’s even real doesn’t just come out of nowhere. What bothered me the most was hearing behavior related to that described in this dramatic, sensationalized way. Framing someone’s situation with their partners serious trauma as “life time type s***” instead of actually talking about it professionally in the context of betrayal trauma. A clinician can 100% believe certain monitoring behaviors cross boundaries while also understanding what happened over time that caused someone to get to that point. There’s no reason to mock it or make it sound like some crazy TV drama… I was also uncomfortable hearing that the clinician offered couples therapy but said they would “naturally be more on the patient’s side”. Couples therapy after addiction and betrayal needs to feel neutral to both people. It shouldn’t feel like an extension of one person’s individual treatment where the other person is already being viewed a certain way before they even walk into the room. Especially when the patient has a life long compulsive insecure- lying problem. Not really the point, but 100% has me wondering what kind of human beings are being hired to help people heal at this facility. And for that price, frankly it feels like a scam. Supporting someone through addiction recovery doesn’t mean minimizing what their behavior did to their partner or assuming negative things about a person who isn’t even there to explain their side. You can hold someone accountable for unhealthy boundaries while also understanding the trauma and repeated dishonesty that led up to them. Isn’t that the point? I really hope this program takes more consideration into the staff they hire and with how clinicians talk about the partners and families affected by addiction, especially when it comes to professionalism, neutrality, and actually understanding betrayal trauma. I will never recommend this facility to anyone — deeply disappointed.”
