How likely are you to recommend The Balsam Center?
What patients say on Google
“If you are in crisis do not go to this place. The most unprofessional front office I’ve ever seen. They are incompetent. I did a walk in visit. I have insurance. I wanted to start therapy there. They asked if I had been drinking. I said last night i drank a few beers. They said in order to see you we need a breathalyzer. Ok no alcohol in my system. They did this in the hallway. Not in an office. So I waited two more hours and they told me they have nobody to see me and to come back in a few months. Pathetic.ou should lose all the funding you get from taxpayers $!!!”
“I was a patient here for 2 years, and both my doctors left after a year there. They never called me to reschedule after either doctor left. I slipped through the cracks after they prescribed me 3 months worth of psych meds, and then 3 more months without seeing a doctor. But 6 months later they dropped me. Now i’m running out of antidepressants. Moral of the story is if you are depressed or have anxiety don’t rely on this center, they will let you down in the long run. The employees are generally very kind, except Hannah. She operates the medication question hotline and has more problems than I do. She yelled at me multiple times and kept telling everything I did wrong by not contacting them after my doctors left. Their job is to schedule appointment but they can’t keep up with their records. That really was the last straw for me. They are understaffed which I get, but I can’t put up with getting blamed by the untrained 20 years olds that come and go every 6 months. I feel like I have been through too much already to get to this point. She knows they are understaffed but instead of being sympathetic she is combative from the beginning to end. I was muting the phone, crying at the end, but she was too caught up in trying to explain to me why I suck to realize that I am worried about my health and don’t know where to go for medicine now. She’s lacking any empathy at all and I dont know why she works in mental health if she want to take out her frustration on others. I called the Crisis line afterwards and they gave me great advice on how to get help. They were nothing like the Balsam center that could not, or did not, want to help. Please if you care about your mental health, find an online doctor. They don’t even let you see a doctor in person at the Balsam center. The whole thing feels like a ponzi scheme to get you on meds but then you’ll feel terrible having to deal with it all on your own again after they drop you. Don’t let them waste your time and make you feel worse it is not worth it, there are too many online resources that are faster and cheaper, and the employees are much more helpful”
“They will lie about what services they provide so that they can charge more money”
“I can't say enough about the staff -- from the housekeeping up to the doctors. I was always treated like a person and that my well-being was of utmost importance and a priority. There was not a single time in my stay at the Balsam Center that I felt like I was a second thought or a nuisance. They helped me recover and set up a plan for continued success in sobriety. They were all relatable, kind and passionate about mine and the other patients' health and recovery. This also includes the Mobile Crisis unit, all of whom are there and willing to help/talk. I would recommend the Balsam Center 10 out of 10 times to anyone looking for help in recovering and trying to set a new, better course for your life.”
