How likely are you to recommend Sycamore Springs Changes?
What patients say on Google
“I was referred to Changes by my daughter’s therapist and, trusting her recommendation, decided to send my child there during a very difficult time. This turned out to be one of the worst decisions I could have made for my daughter’s mental health. Changes is not a place that fosters compassion, empathy, or support for children who have experienced trauma. Instead of helping my daughter heal, they treated her like a criminal. She shared with me that the staff were not kind to her or the other children. Their approaches to care were not only unhelpful but often triggering, causing more harm than good. One staff member in particular, a woman named Midge, stood out for her cold, harsh, and rude behavior. She clearly lacked the empathy and patience necessary to work with children, let alone those who are struggling with their mental health. My daughter eventually begged me to stop sending her there, and I had no choice but to pull her out. Based on our experience, I strongly advise against sending any child in need of support to Changes. This facility does not provide the care or understanding these children deserve. A truly horrible experience. If I could give Zero starts I would.”
“If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. My husband and I enrolled our son, expecting treatment and assessment for depression and anxiety. He went for three days, we withdrew him on the fourth. During that time, we were promised 5 phone calls with updates on our son. Those promised phone calls do not include the family meeting we were supposed to be contacted to set up for the end of that week. No one gave us updates when he was dropped off or picked up. On the third day, my husband expressed his concern with the lack of communication and all the front desk employee would repeat is, “Participation is strictly voluntary.” She said it THREE times without addressing his concerns. After talking with our son, we realized he was either unaware he was being assessed (he was not introduced to whomever was evaluating him properly) or very little time was being given to address any of our concerns. On the fourth day we decided to send our son back to school. We requested his medical records and sought assessment elsewhere. Today, his records came in the mail, addressed to the wrong name. While I was reading the notes we had to show for three whole days, I found a document containing ANOTHER patient’s personal health information at the end of the packet. I am COMPLETELY dumbfounded. Don’t waste your time.”
“So my 15 year old son was going to the full day program. I'm not going into details but there was an issue that my son was acused of, and instead of talking to my son and saying hey you can say stuff like that. (Which by the way he was singing a song out loud which he always does). Where he could have said oh I'm sorry I was just singing a song I meant nothing by it ,or talk to him and see what was going on get to the issue at hand . Also my son sometimes turns words around and has stuttering issues. Instead of trying to figure out what my son would be trying to say they would take his words and change them around, such as he said wanted a Crossfade which by the way no one in his family including him me his aunt and his grandma knew that meant something to do with mixing drugs together ,what he meant was he wanted to to get a certain type of haircut but regardless or not what was happening or not instead of taking my son to the side and saying hey let's not do that and let's think of a better way to talk to people you kick him out This is a program a behavioral therapy program that is supposed to help adolescents work on there behavior and have better ways of coping with things.oh by the way there was no warning there was no parent call there was absolutely nothing just kicked out. The staff tell these kids don't jump to conclusion but then jump to conclusions themselves. So that's wonderful therapy sycamore springs changes when there is an issue instead of getting to the bottom line let's just take the child out that's real great. Which which actually can lead to more problems because a child goes in thinking that here I'm going to get help and figure out how to express myself better but the staff was supposed to help me who is professionals is not listening so what happens is they shut down where they don't want to talk to nobody and it causes even more problems which makes them even want to go do suicide or do drugs or other things.. this is not a place you should send your loved ones.”
“This place is a joke. They don't have one-on-one sessions if you come in on a volunteer basis they will still hold you for 72 hours and will not let you leave if you ask. When it is time to leave after you sign your release form they hold you for 2 hours before they will let you go. The people at the front desk have no clue what is going on. The nurses in the back will not listen to the patient when they have a question. If it was my opinion you would have a better experience anywhere else but here. The therapist who is supposed to help does nothing really besides prescribe meds and just hope that works for you. If I could they would get Zero stars.”
