How likely are you to recommend St Vincent's Psychiatric Care?
What patients say on Google
“Terrible place my step dad was in a car accident and had brain damage and lost all his memories and he was a patient here for several months. They transferred him to a different hospital and refused to tell us what happened to him. We called one day and all the sudden they started telling us he was never a patient there and they have none records of him being there at all. I CALLED THE POLICE to file a missing persons report and they LIED the police and said they didn’t have any records of him being a patient there. We found him through a mutual friend whose wife happened to work for the new facility they transferred him to. Who confirmed he was transferred from this hospital and verified that he INDEED WAS A PATIENT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. This is absolutely outrageous considering they lied to police and considering the fact that Missouri has medical record retention laws. I believe this hospital is negligent and not following regulations set by Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE JUSTICE FOR JEFF”
“Takes 20+ calls to get ahold of nurses frequently. Was lied to about what medication was being administered. Told patient was being discharged then cannot get ahold of staff for details. Food is bad. Family is not allowed to bring food even when patient refuses it due to cultural or religious reasons.”
“Do not recommend. Food is terrible/cold (per my adolescent son), and communication is lacking. Requested call from the doctor and when I missed his calls, which were all at weird times of the day/night I was given no call back number. It took me 4 days to connect with the doctor. The nurse would call some days and tell me he was fine and other days I would get no call. There are no windows so the kids get no sunlight. I don’t see how that can be good for mental health. It is more like a prison than a mental facility. Some staff was nice but several were rude. He received no help at all, was discharged and then ended up going right back to the ER that night. The ONLY thing that was good was that he could call us 3 times per day and was able to have a comfort item. Other facilities he’s been at have not allowed this (maybe one phone call). Visits are limited to 2 people per day for 20 minutes.”
“I would never bring my daughter here willingly again. The staff is rude as all get out - making snide comments about what my daughter shared in group to another patient, and speaking in a very condescending and just plain insulting way about my daughter's issues - sure, kids make mistakes, but telling a kid they'll be a failure is an extremely gross and unhelpful way to do so. She says they were rude to other patients as well, which shouldn't be acceptable whatsoever in an adolescent/children's unit. These are kids in crisis and they need care and encouragement. She also said she could only brush her teeth once a day in the morning, IF they took a shower, which the water wouldn't get hot either. Disgusting. She said the social worker was nice - which they work for the state, so it says absolutely nothing about this facility. The urgent care staff was mostly nice also. If you or your child get placed here, request a transfer - DON'T stay here.”
