“Disclaimer that the 2-start rating is of the institution, not my providers. I received services through SCCCMH for over a year. In that time I had two therapists and one psychiatrist who were all great. The way my services ended, however, left a very bad taste in my mouth. I was attending regular therapy sessions, but my therapist had to take a medical leave of absence. I was told that I would likely hear from my therapists supervisor during that time to make sure I was doing okay, which did not happen. This wasn’t a huge deal to me, but still a little odd. The leave ended up lasting much longer than anticipated and it kept getting extended, so I was without services for a few months before the supervisor did a periodic review with me. At some point I received a phone call from my therapist, which I missed but then returned with no answer the next day. I heard nothing for another month and then the same thing happened (missed call, returned the next day with no answer). I assume this was to schedule an appointment upon the therapists return, but I am not sure. Regardless, I received letters in the mail following this that stated that my services would be terminated if I didn’t make and keep a therapy appointment by a certain date (though again, I had not been able to reach my therapist and didn’t even know they were back). Additionally, I had a standing appointment with my psychiatrist coming up, but those were less frequent so of course I hadn’t had an appointment in awhile other than the periodic review with the supervisor. Somewhere along the line, they cancelled my psych appointment and discharged me due to my “lack of participation.” This was extremely frustrating. I was essentially blamed for not participating in my care when I had no care to even participate in because I was waiting for my therapists return (none of this is the therapists fault, they were gone). I will take accountability in the fact that I had received letters in the mail that I had not opened or responded to. However, as a mental health institution, it feels ironic to not be able to understand why a person struggling with mental health would fall behind in retrieving and reading physical mail in a world of technology. I only received 2 phone calls, both of which I returned but then heard nothing. I never received any calls from the administrative team regarding their concerns about my “lack of participation.” In my discharge papers, the reason for discharge is listed as “dropped out of treatment” and the goals status is marked as “no progress.” This makes me look like I wasn’t invested in my care, when really it’s quite the opposite. I don’t leave reviews for anything, but after some reflection time I felt my experience should be shared. The communication regarding my care while my therapist was gone and after they returned was very poor, and the way the discharge was handled was even worse. Please do better!”
“You billed me a couple of times when my insurance ran out. No help getting new insurance, once I did you bill me $3700+? You should've billed me correctly and because of this my savings have a big chunk taken out. I'm canceling all my services with here and the place you sent me. Cherry on top? Your garbage website won't let me pay the bill”
“some staff are okay but the problem is at least for me they won't prescribe medication that work after my insurance changed I had ti come here and they changed all my meds that were working btw and tried giving me alternative that gave me side effects and didn't work and increases suicidal thoughts and depression if the person has medical history since a child with records of medication used and they work why would you not offer those? I have severe ADHD bipolar depression and PTSD none of the medication they tried giving me worked it's really sad I have to resort to a phone application with an A.I doctor to the medication I need and that doesn't include therapy thank God for Hims without that application I'd be out of luck in this area”
“Staff is very kind, getting an appointment is easy. The problem is keeping said appointment. After my first one, I was scheduled with a therapist. They called and canceled one of my appointments the day of. I only got to see the person twice before I was called and told this one can't see me because I have Medicare, and scheduled me with another therapist there instead. Today was my first appointment with this new therapist, and yet again I got a call with a same-day cancelation. It is making me want to give up on trying to get help.”
