How likely are you to recommend SOUTHERN PSYCHIATRY?
“I first saw Dr. Clary when I was 15 or 16. She is a blessing and her help is a large part of why I was able to graduate high school, go onto college, and earn a masters. I have since moved back from my college town and I’m seeing her again. She is just as great now as she was then. I’ve seen many psychiatrists while away at school, always trying to find a decent one but never could. Dr. Clary literally sets the bar TOO high- in a good way. She truly cares for her patients and forms a genuine doctor patient relationship with them. I would recommend her for both children and adults, I have seen her as both and she has helped me every time, always listened, and always believed me. She also referred me to their practice therapist, Elizabeth, and she is phenomenal as well! They have supported me this last year through my dad’s hospice journey and now the grieving process and have kindly included my husband in meetings when necessary. The front office ladies are always so sweet and welcoming. When I need something between appointments they always get back to me. Can’t recommend this practice enough!”
“I submitted intake forms weeks ago before the holidays. I was told they would reach out to me after the holidays due to a lack of providers and would let me know if I had been accepted or not and then schedule if so. I hadn't heard anything so I called them. A very rude woman named Marie claiming to be office manager answered. she took my last name and proceeds to say "they can't take you" and that was it. No explanation, no empathy, just those four words. I asked her why and she said she didn't know. I asked to speak to someone else that could maybe help me to better understand why, in which she told me she was the office manager and there was no one else. I asked further questions trying to grasp the fact that she so rudely and unexplainably declined me as a patient and asked if it was because they didn't have availability or if they felt they were unqualified to take me with the information I gave them????? All she said was "yeah, they can't take you." As a person who just wants the mental help I so desperately need, this was completely devastating and discouraging. I understand if they felt they couldn't give me proper care, and I appreciate that, but that could have been 1) relayed to me through a phone call instead of me waiting around and reaching out and 2) handled better by the office manager with a well-deserved PROFESSIONAL explanation and like I said before, some empathy. I was so excited to be a patient before given the extensive bios on the providers and what seemed to be a welcoming business... however I am almost glad this happened because any company in this field of work that has a nasty rude woman working as office manager is probably not the most fit place to seek out mental help anyways. This could have easily set off someone on the verge of a breaking point given we are mentally ill people here seeking refuge.... but they clearly don't seem too concerned about that unfortunately. go anywhere else.”
“Dr. Clary is wonderful - she's thorough, informative, and her treatment method is very tailored to the patients needs. I can't say enough good things about her. The office experience on the other hand isn't great. The reception staff is remarkably uninviting and somewhat unfriendly. Phone calls aren't answered (only returned). Pharmacy calls and faxes for medication confirmations went unanswered for weeks. Update (3/9/23): The office staff has changed, and visiting the office is so much better!”
“Doctor Gaskins truly saved me along with Gods guidance. I’m so grateful to have an MD who is understanding, listens, and gives you so much useful information about what’s going on and what the medicines do and what they may not be good for. I would be stuck without Southern Psychiatry… in fact i was. i’m very thankful to have such an intelligent doctor who’s seen me at my worst and continues today to fight with me. I’m truly astounded by how much Dr. Gaskins knows and interests me greatly. I more than recommend - and this is coming from somebody that had to try everything and everywhere(and is very stubborn). Good luck to everyone and Do yourself a favor and get an appt if you can/need to, you will not regret it. Stay blessed!”
