“To give some background, I had been a patient of Dr. Schactner’s for over 10 years. I had a concerning experience with Dr. Schactner when I was about 36 weeks pregnant. During this one particular session, my concerns were not fully heard or accurately represented. Despite not being a danger to myself or my child, she strongly pushed for extensive medication changes based on what seemed to be her personal fears rather than my clinical representation. I feel that caution and patient safety are important, but her recommendations were excessive and not appropriately individualized. I ultimately sought a second opinion and received a very different, more balanced assessment. I had also consulted my therapist about what was said to me and she was in total disagreement with Dr. Schactner’s approach. While others may have had overall positive experiences, I would encourage potential patients to be proactive, ask questions, and seek additional opinions if something feels off.”
