What patients say on Google
“This was my second time seeing Kendra. So far everything has been fantastic from the phone to the front desk and then to Kendra herself. She has been quick to respond to my needs. I feel comfortable with her. It’s funny though because I also feel the no BS thing with her. If you’re going be open. Be honest. They can help. So, here’s to the next step in my journey. I look forward the future.”
“I have had a couple of follow-up visits for medication management, and my experience has been constant. Appointments are often on schedule, and communication has been straightforward. The provider listens and makes gentle adjustments as needed. It seems like a consistent and diligent approach to ongoing care.”
“I had an excellent experience with my NP Kendra Nguyen. She was very compassionate, professional, and truly took the time to listen without judgment. I felt heard, understood, and respected throughout every appointment. Their thoughtful approach, clear explanations, and genuine concern made me feel comfortable and confident in my treatment plan.”
“I was a patient at this practice long before I experienced the mental health crisis that changed my life. I didn’t come into treatment distrusting mental health professionals. Unfortunately, my experiences here have caused me to lose much of the trust I once had in the mental health system. Since becoming a patient, I was reassigned from provider to provider without ever being asked for my preference. I have been assigned four different providers. It made it nearly impossible to build the trust and continuity that are so important in psychiatric care. After severe workplace bullying led to a complete mental and physical health breakdown, I turned to this practice for help. Since then, I have struggled with PTSD, severe nightmares, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. During one appointment, I explained that I was barely sleeping because I kept reliving the trauma of being hospitalized and not knowing when I would be released. Instead of feeling supported, I left feeling dismissed. I was told that I needed to “eliminate my stressors,” but no changes were made to my treatment or medication that day. I left feeling as though my pain had been minimized instead of understood. Today I officially learned that I have been discharged from this practice because I missed too many appointments. I understand that practices have attendance policies. However, it is heartbreaking that a psychiatry practice would discharge someone whose mental illness itself contributed to the very struggles they were seeking treatment for. I know I missed appointments, but those missed appointments were not because I didn’t care about my treatment. They happened during one of the most difficult periods of my life, when I was barely sleeping, reliving trauma every night, and struggling just to make it through each day. I requested a different provider because I no longer felt heard, but by that point, I was already struggling significantly. One of the hardest parts of this experience is how alone it has made me. Even people in my own life have treated my discharge as though it was something I deserved, and it was funny because I missed appointments. It has reinforced the feeling that my mental health is only taken seriously by me. When the people around you don’t understand, you hope your treatment team will. Instead, I was left feeling abandoned by the very place I turned to for help. This experience has left me questioning whether mental health patients are truly seen as people. I came here believing I would find support during one of the darkest periods of my life. Instead, I often felt like another chart, another insurance claim, another appointment to manage. As someone living with trauma, I now find it difficult to trust not only this practice but much of the mental health system as a whole. That is an incredibly painful realization because trust is the foundation of psychiatric care. I have reached a point where I feel like people with severe mental illness are expected to survive on their own. We are told to ask for help, but when we are at our lowest, and our illness affects our ability to function, we risk losing the very care we were trying so hard to keep. It feels like the system is designed to help only those who are well enough to navigate it. Those of us who struggle the most often fall through the cracks. I was going to go back to school and rebuild my life. But today, after finding out I was officially discharged, I found myself asking, “Why?” Why keep trying when every time I fight to move forward, another door closes? I know that’s how I feel today, and maybe tomorrow will feel different. But today, this experience has left me feeling defeated, abandoned, and wondering whether people like me are ever truly given a chance to heal. I know this practice won't reflect on how provider turnover, communication, and discharge policies affect patients living with trauma and serious mental illness. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for—not simply managed until they fall through the cracks.”
