What patients say on Google
“I'm very grateful for the care provided by Latoya Kearney. Finally, a Provider that listen and insist that you have input on your visits. Whenever I call the receptionist is always pleasant, Ms. Kearney's nurse assistant is always pleasant and helpful if messages need to be forwarded. Thank you!”
“they deserve zero stars. I have despised this practice since I was referred here over a year ago. They’re so disorganized, receptionist is rude, no one answers the phone, you can’t cancel your appointment on my chart, and have to call, but no one answers the phone. Today was the icing on the cake. I’ve had a payment plan set up with Sentara for years, however, today I find out that this specific office sent a bill to collections that is being paid in my current payment plan. The office could have mentioned it to me at any anytime before sending it to collections. I keep up with my bills and I’ve never had anything in collections .It was not even $50 so I would’ve paid it immediately or showed them it was included in my payment plan had I known they thought it was owed. They don’t actually help with any of your issues. All they do is prescribe medicine so they can get kickbacks. You are literally just an appointment and $$$$. All they do is increase your meds and then make you schedule another appointment so they can get more money . If you care about getting better at all, do not go here.”
“I have experienced extreme trauma and wanted to see what therapies they offer. They refused to discuss anything over the phone, insisting that if I came in they would then discuss what they offer, so I made an appointment. I was taken to an office and when I asked about what they offer, they said they needed to know my history. Fair enough, I gave them some information. I asked again about what they offer, and they said I could observe a group session and then we could talk afterwards. Ok I agreed to that. The session was basically cutting out pictures from magazines that made us happy and sharing them. During this time, the facilitator indicated she would be giving us fragrances to smell. Well, I have extreme allergies to synthetic fragrances and severe asthma so I said I'd need to excuse myself while she conducted this part of the therapy. I waited in another room for a long time. I tried to use my phone but wanted to go to my car so I could talk in private but they had locked the doors so I couldn't leave. I tried to find the receptionist to unlock the doors but couldn't find her. At this point a couple of hours have passed and I'm still trapped with the doors locked. Then, the head and another employee had me go in another room and tried to get me to sign papers agreeing to enter their program. I told them no and that they still had not answered the questions I'd originally come for. They were strong arming me and wouldn't let me leave in violation of my civil liberties. They hammered me like a couple of used car salesmen. They let me go finally when I told them my dogs needed to be let out and I promised to come back the next day. I broke that promise and I'm now further traumatized so that I don't even want to drive down 1st Colonial Rd. My advice is to be very wary of this place.”
“I have contacted Dr. Pope’s office twice, once yesterday and again today. When I called yesterday early afternoon concerning a prior authorization that needed to be completed Patricia tried to tell me they needed to wait for the pharmacy to send over ppw stating one was needed. I let her know I use to work in the field and that was unnecessary. That the office needed to submit a prior authorization form that can be located on my insurances website and that the matter was urgent. She hung up on me abruptly with no solution to my concerns. I called again today, it’s now been almost 48 hrs, and she stated the request was sent to a separate department that handles prior auths and that it can take 7-14 business days. That is a complete lie. Thankfully I’m not ignorant to the process and I asked her for the phone number for the department who handles that. She said she would have to look for it and give me a call back tomorrow even after stating to her I didn’t mind waiting until she could find it. I will be calling the provider and speaking directly to her tomorrow to make her aware of the incompetent staff I’ve been dealing with as I’m pretty sure she is not aware. Patricia has no business working in the mental healthcare field, she is only worried about getting off the phone while making sure you feel belittled and insignificant. I’m appalled with the customer service I have received by Patricia.”
