What patients say on Google

“Just like every other medical institution in Northeast PA. Procedure and liability seems more important than actually helping or healing. Phone calls are not returned, questions asked to me are repetitive and robotic. I offered you the services we provide seems to be their fallback statement to every challenging question or answer. After my last call to the crisis center I feel defeated and hopeless. I now believe there is no real help in this area. I now believe all the good medical staff moved out of the Northeast a long time ago. I have Scranton Counseling Center to thank for my depression today. They made it worse. Do not use this "service". You are just a "customer" to them. Also, your problem better be manageable in under an hour. They will just keep reminding you how long you have been talking until you feel bad enough to say your all better now. You get 1 hour. Then they will remind you that you have been talking for a long time until you give up. They drop the act after 1 hour. Hopefully anyone who uses this service has a "fast food" type of problem. This place is only for the "worried well"”

“I’ve been going to this place for a while now with my son, but recently I’ve come across something that’s been unprofessional by the staff. Carmen (I think her name is.) the front desk person with glasses laughed and whispered to her coworkers something about my son when he was going through an episode. Usually I don’t write reviews but this was surprising and horrible to experience. I will be finding a different place to go to and will be reporting this woman to whoever I can to get her in check.”

“I have been a waitlist for ten months now for therapy. My doctor from the Wright Center referred me here, and after seeing that they were taking new patients I was excited to no longer pay $400 a month for therapy through BetterHelp. I did my normal intake paperwork and then I was scheduled to see a psychiatrist within the month, even after telling them I had my own psych and wanted to stay with him and I was just looking for therapy. They told me I needed to meet with him to be placed in therapy. My appointment was supposed to be weeks later, and they called me back later that day to let me know they had an opening, so I left work and drove an hour back home to go to this appointment since I needed therapy ASAP. The entire appointment I watched the psychiatrist type my intake paperwork into the computer infront of me, and try to convince me to start using a psych in house. After 20 minutes of feeling like I was sitting in the principal's office getting yelled at, my appointment was finally over. I got a $20 bill in the mail for my copay to watch a man type on the computer and try to get me to switch to an in house psych, even after paying a $20 copay for the initial visit in the same day. There was literally no reason for that man to meet with me - he asked me no questions pertaining to my mental health or any sort of follow up to my intake paperwork. I just sat there and watched him type and we barely had any conversation. On my way out, I was told that I would get a call with an appointment for therapy. I called several times over the next few weeks and was constantly told I would get a call back but I never did. They did not inform me at any point that there was a waitlist, even after finishing my intake appointment - I was only told I was on a waitlist when I called several weeks later to inquire about making an appointment for therapy since I still had not gotten a call. I have since called multiple times and every time I get told that they are sending an email to the scheduler to reach out to me about making an appointment or to figure out how long the waitlist is. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only way I really think anyone could get help here is if they are in crisis and even then I doubt it would help. They are so unorganized and unreliable. I regret wasting my time and even giving these people the time of day. Scranton needs better mental health facilities because this is definitely NOT it.”
