What patients say on Google
“Literally first thing out of the PA’s mouth (The PA’s name is Vincent) when he walked into the room was saying “ok, looks like I’ve seen you before.” (I said I don’t think so, because I truly didn’t think I’ve seen this guy before) and he proceeds to go on and say “yeah I’ve seen him before (he was meaning my son). Actually I seen him last time he was here but you weren’t here with him. I looked at his chart and he’s been coming here too often, it’s really too much that we need to see what’s really going on here. He should be going to his primary doctor. He’s been seen here about 6 times since the beginning of this year.” I explained, “well, he had a primary dr but every time we call to try to get in, they say the primary Dr is booked up for couple to few months and we end up not even seeing his primary because we take soonest available so then it’s another doctor that doesn’t even know his medical history.” The PA Vincent then says “well even if he has to wait a few days to be seen then so be it, but he needs to be seen by his primary.” I then explain, “well he can’t wait a few days for his sickness and to miss school and if he does then it’s unexcused with the school.” Make a long story short, the PA Vincent made us feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome, and like we shouldn’t be there to get my son checked out. It was very unprofessional and very disappointing. Any other time, we have never had a problem here though. It is very unfortunate and sad, but looking at the overall reviews I guess this place doesn’t receive many good reviews anyways. My son should have never been placed in that conversation and felt uncomfortable like that. PLEASE THINK ABOUT OTHER OPTIONS BEFORE COMING HERE!!!! OUR HEALTHCARE IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE TREATED THIS WAY!!”
“We were visiting from out of state when our daughter came down with sore throat and swollen glands. Our checkin process was friendly & efficient. Kim, the FNP who saw our daughter took good care of us. Sent script to Walmart with no wait time.”
“I have only ever had wonderful experiences at the Mattoon Walk in clinic. The facility is clean and all staff are kind and courteous. The providers are knowledgeable and take the time to collaborate with you about treatment planning and options.”
“I brought my 3-year-old to the SBL Mattoon Walk In Clinic and followed the posted check in process by taking a ticket and waiting. While we were sitting there, another patient was called back for care by staff, and shortly after, a man who arrived after us was checked in immediately and even told who his provider would be. During this time, my daughter and I were completely overlooked. When I went to the desk, I was asked to sit back down and wait again, and shortly we were called up to be checked in. The staff member apologized and said she “didn’t notice us” , but with a child talking in the lobby, another patient being called back for care, and staff able to see into the waiting area, that explanation was concerning. I also was never told who our provider would be, which felt inconsistent compared to the treatment of the other patient. This experience left me feeling dismissed and uncomfortable. I hope the clinic will take steps to ensure all patients are acknowledged promptly and treated with the same level of care and respect.”
