How likely are you to recommend San Antonio Family Psychiatry?
What patients say on Google
“We are so grateful for the care and support our child has received. Priscilla Hover is a kind, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable physician assistant. She takes the time to listen, explains everything clearly, and always makes us feel heard and respected. Navigating mental health can be overwhelming for families, and having a professional like her makes a tremendous difference. Her calm, supportive, and thoughtful approach has helped us feel more confident and less alone in the process. We truly appreciate the dedication and expertise she brings to every visit and highly recommend her to anyone seeking an exceptional provider.”
“I am going to this office for ADHD and medication management. Since it’s a controlled substance, I was told I need to follow up with the PA-C once a month. First appt was $306 including ADHD testing (they do this even if you’ve been diagnosed) and new patient visit. Apparently one of the billing codes they used was for a “new patient visit, over 60 minutes”. My appointment was 45 minutes. The following month, for my follow up appointment (according to them I need to see the provider once a month since I’m on a controlled substance), I was told their “private pay rate” is $185, and she immediately asked “do you want to pay this now?” I told her I’d call my insurance bc that price is high, and she asks “will you call me back?” Clearly they just want to collect $185 ASAP before I even know where that high of a charge came from. This means I’d have to pay $185 every month on top of my now $100 prescription. Almost $300 a month just so I can focus better. Here is the part I’m upset at. This charge apparently includes psychotherapy along with their regular cost for follow up appts. I am not receiving psychotherapy. The follow up was a 20 minute appt where she asks how the medication is going and if I’ve been experiencing any symptoms. That’s all I need. Also note that when I asked the lady on the phone to break down the billing codes, she mentioned that the first one is a “follow up code” and provided the code, and with the second one she just listed the code and didn’t tell me what it was for. I had to ask her to tell me what that code was for. Only then did I realize they’re billing me for a service I don’t even receive and didn’t ask for (psychotherapy). I find this dishonest and predatory. I also find it odd that I had to go out of my way to ask her what that second code was for, and that’s how I find out I’m being billed for a service I don’t receive. When I explained that I do not receive any psychotherapy, and that it’s a simple follow up, she said “well that’s just how we bill it” and “thats what the provider put”. Essentially, they dont care. Overall, she was unhelpful and said she’d “let the provider know” but I highly doubt I’ll hear back and even if I do it’ll be the same situation where they’re overcharging me. I also have insurance on a deductible plan. Some of their initial charges didn’t even go towards my deductible. If you are going simply for ADHD and medication management, I do not recommend this practice. They are overpriced, bill you for services you don’t receive like an appt that’s “over 60 min” even when it’s under, or psychotherapy even though it’s just a medication management follow up appt. I’m going to be shopping around for other providers since the front desk was unhelpful, not willing to work with me, and I found through calling my insurance that there are much cheaper providers close by.”
“Staff is courteous and the office is run so efficiently! The doctor is thorough and compassionate. I’m so glad I found this office.”
“We just had our first appointment with Vanessa as we needed an ADHD eval for my daughter. She is super easy to talk to and answered all of our questions. Phil was able to place us on the cancellation list and get us in much sooner than expected and afterwards my daughter requested to go back for additional appointments! Overall, amazing experience!”
