“I have avoided mental health care for years because everyone says I have to go here and see dr yang and then end my life due to his treatment. all my friends have horror stories about him. i am again being pushed that as a disabled person i must go here before they can recognize my physical disability, which is dysautonomia, that I have obviously had for 5 years. Do not try promise healthcare either, as chopra messed me up forever with a misdiagnosis. i am struggling to find telehealth as well. they really want our health to tank so bad we are near death before they will take us seriously”
“I successfully completed the IOP portion of my treatment and truly valued the insight gained during that time. While I have transitioned into Continuing Care, I find myself hesitant to move toward graduation because of the invaluable support I receive from my counselor, Mechelle. Her ability to listen deeply, provide practical coping skills, and offer genuine understanding has been a cornerstone of my progress. Her guidance makes the recovery process feel manageable, and I value the therapeutic relationship we have built.”
“This review is only addressing the telepsychiatric treatment given to my daughter by mental health Nurse Practitioner Dee Burke. My daughter who suffers from social anxiety and other issues was assigned to Dee Burke and has had 3 or 4 sessions with her. Each time, my daughter came out of her session with MORE anxiety than she went in with. As the parent of a minor I stayed in the tele-health room and was able to observe and I noticed NP Burke routinely asking questions and responding to my daughter’s answers in ways that seemed discouraging and belittling. For example, when she asked my daughter what kind of work she wanted to do with her life and my daughter said “Art,” NP Burke made a dismissive face, which then made my daughter question whether she is making a good life choice. The point here is not whether or not art is a good vocation (we didn’t come for guidance counseling) it was for help in managing anxiety. If these video appointments are taped I strongly urge her supervisors to review them for unsuitable responses to vulnerable clients as in my daughters case alone there are numerous other instances of what felt like unprofessional lack of empathy and wisdom. The last time we were there and my daughter was being evaluated by another staff member ( who did behave with extraordinary kindness and professionalism) I was in the waiting room outside her office and I noticed a series of individual patients leaving the room with the same expressions on their faces as my daughter, which is what is prompting me to leave this review. Someone needs to mentor NP Burke so that she can be a constructive provider rather than one who erodes the fragile confidence of those who look to her for treatment.”
