“My partner was recently recommended PHP, which I was unfamiliar with so I agreed and encouraged him to try it at first. If I knew how disorganized, passive aggressive, rude, unusual, and mind numbing the experience would be? I would have never been so supportive about it. During the first day, he was randomly switched into two different groups and was pulled out of the room numerous times to separately speak one on one or take his vitals. The nurses or therapists that were leading the small groups were incredibly inhospitable to him- Placing him into a group that had already progressed through half the material and program and doing absolutely nothing to help everyone socialize. Rather than having some sort of category or organization to these groups, women or men that were decades apart in age were expected to have deep conversation without any instruction while in a gaggle of three to four others at most. The whole situation was immensely uncomfortable, making the goal of group therapy seem like the least of their concerns as they dismissed people that actually tried to open up. They were very strict and rude about having your phone with you, making you put it in a locker outside the room that was poorly secure and did not ensure privacy or safety in the slightest. When my partner tried to drop out of PHP, the provider that called was oddly giggly and giddy through the whole conversation and her speech was completely jumbled as she couldn’t even pronounce names correctly. The whole experience with PHP, especially through Rogers, was off putting and disquieting. I question the qualifications and credentials of the people who were running this program.”

“So disappointed. They will go out of their way to make sure your child doesn't succeed even if they are making progress. Several other issues as well regarding individual therapists, staff and more. I did want to add that I did reach out to the supervising psychologist for Appleton and multiple other locations for Rogers. She agreed that what I had described was not in keeping with Rogers policy or the standard of care that should have been provided. I did file a grievance but I don't know if that did anything, I'm assuming not. A different location was able to provide the services that were needed without hesitation or reservation, which was very different from the Appleton site. Also, please know that the therapist who is making therapeutic decisions and is influencing the treatment team is not an actual counselor but in training. Some of the actions of the staff also went against standard codes of ethics for counselors, social workers etc and didn't meet very basic counseling skills 101 level topics.”

“I was very disappointed in the experience I received while attending Roger's Behavioral Health. I was going into the Depression Recovery Program with high hopes that I would see some improvement in my current situation and mental status, however this was not the case. The hour and a half dedicated to group therapy was spent seated as a desk with a text book in front of me, being read outloud to by an unethustic therapist who seemed just as unexcited to be there as I was. She wouldn't elaborate on the methods being taught within the text book, and overall was really unhelpful. The skills-training group had nothing to do with practicing or learning any sort of skill set to help us better development coping mechanisms, instead we were just told to keep ourselves busy with reading or card games. It was really awkward and uncomfortable, especially since no one really knew each other, and we would be get passive-aggressively scolded if we didn't interact with each other. The staff leading the program seemed unqualified and offered very little support. It felt like we were children being overseen by a teacher who clearly thought they had better things to do. The experience was really disheartening, and an overall let down. I really don't recommend attending this place.”

“I'd hardly consider the treatment they provide as therapy. The Depression Recovery Program involved sitting at a desk and reading from a textbook that reviewed breathing techniques and "problem solving skills" that are commonly taught in elementary schools. The class- because I don't consider this to be group counciling- is led by a monotone therapist who admitted they themselves don't even beileve that lecturing us from a textbook will help us solve our problems. The hour and fifteen minutes they dedicate to "skills training" is a joke. The therapists leading the group don't take any time to properly teach you the skills they force you to read about in the textbook they provide you with like it's the Holy Bible. Rather, they have you focus on "independent work." There version of "independent work" is essentially an unguided free-time. Bring a book from home and read, color in a coloring book, take a walk around the building, play with a deck of cards. Truly, you could have just stayed home, saved yourself the money, and gotten the same exact experience that they provide. God forbid you forget to bring a fun activity from home because you're under the impression that "skills training" would be a guided exercise you participate in and are instead left sitting there for an hour and fifteen minutes. Additionally, I've never attended a group therapy that forces interaction is such a passive aggressive way. Often times, therapists are understanding of everyone's individual struggles, and try to gently encourage participation, but are accepting and understanding if some individuals need more time to abjust and open up, and that's something they work on together. If you struggle with social anxiety and interacting with people, you're screwed. They stick you into small groups with people who may be double, even triple your age and expect you to interact with these strangers as if you've known them your whole life. Save yourself the trouble, save yourself the money, go somewhere else. Or open up a mental health sub-reddit on Reddit. I promise you, you will find more helpful advice from strangers on the internet than these paid professionals.”
