What patients say on Google
“The entire time I was faking feeling okay to get out of there. I came out of Riverview worse than before except I don’t want to harm myself anymore because I’m literally traumatized that I will wake up and be sent back. Techs literally tell you about them hating their job, let kids pick on others and actually ag them on. If you ask for any water or food you are treated like a chore, which is insane that you’re treating people who are mentally ill this way. You get NO therapy. My therapist spoke to me for 2 minutes every morning to ask if my medicine was working. (It takes weeks to see progress) you are only allowed a thin blanket at night and it’s freezing. Don’t you dare ask for another one. There was a kid who was actively threatening another child and fighting the staff but they let her out the same day just to get rid of her. Another girl attempted suicide the night before and they still didn’t put her on 1 on 1 knowing she suffers voices telling her to harm herself. I had friends call 16 times to even get a chance to speak to me and the phone calls are 5 minutes long (5 min in total if you wanna call multiple people.) they literally just put you on a bunch of meds and hope for the best. The nurses were actually very sweet, kudos to them especially Mrs Kim!!!!! Please never send your child here, a lot of kids with me bragged on Brentwood so I’d try that out if anything.”
“First of off not only am I an EMT who has transferred many adolescents to this facility, but in the last week my own child was sent here. He was admitted on a Wednesday afternoon, admission was absolutely wonderful and easy , what I wasn't pleased with was the fact my child was being treated via phone from the psychiatrist who never laid eyes or evaluated my son. He ended up wearing dirty clothes days in a row even after asking them to please wash them. He suffered numerous anxiety attacks and they kept wanting to give him something that I stressed to them would not work for him. My son is very honest and let me know about a nurse who encouraged fights. I do give 10 stars to two of the most wonderful nurses Jennifer and John who was the most compassionate people. The teacher on the other hand was not so very nice ,and the therapist who called me was nice until I let her know I was taking my son AMA, If you love your children please do your research on each facility before you send them. Its an even weight between positive and negative. I believe this facility has the potential to be a wonderful place if they would get rid of some of the bad apples! From the front desk to some of the nurses and techs.”
“I have mixed feelings about Riverview Behavioral Hospital. There were some positives, but also some concerning issues during my stay. One thing I appreciated was that I was allowed to keep the drawstring in my pants, which made me much more comfortable and prevented my pants from constantly falling down. However, there were several problems. A medication bottle that I brought with me was lost during my stay. I was also given a medication that had previously been discontinued for me and that I was not supposed to be taking. In addition, when I was trying to untangle a phone cord, a staff member named Chaz pulled on my shirt, which I felt was inappropriate and unprofessional. My experience was not entirely negative, but the medication-related issues and my interaction with staff left me with concerns about patient care and attention to detail.”
“I was here for about 2 weeks at best and if im being honest it was fun and not at the same time I really love the teacher for the young kids I think her name was sandy or something I dont know but she was really kind and trustworthy. This place doesn't have the best food which is hard since they keep track of how you eat but how am I supposed to eat if its nasty? And dont get me started on some of the staff some were very fun and some were very strict but in the end they are just doing their job. I made new friends and I really wish I was in contact with them but im not sadly. I was discharged two months ago I think and if im being honest it didnt really help but at least I got medication for my sleeping problems and depression and anxiety”
