What patients say on Google

“A friend/neighbor of mine was looking for a Spanish-speaking provider for mental health medication management. She is exclusively a Spanish speaker (no English at all), so she was having a hard time finding someone. I found Elyse on Google and was so excited to see that she is a Spanish-speaking psychiatric nurse practitioner. I called the office and told them I wanted to schedule an appointment with Elyse on behalf of my friend. The receptionist told me she couldn’t do it because of HIPAA. I asked her if she could please speak with the office manager about how we can facilitate scheduling this appointment. She said she would, but I never heard back. The next day, I called to ask to speak to the office manager directly. She confirmed that I cannot schedule an appointment for my friend due to HIPAA. She took down my friend’s name and number and said they would call her to schedule an appointment. I told her (again) that they can’t call her, because she doesn’t speak English. I told them I’d be happy to facilitate a conversation, but they told me again that I can’t be involved. I asked them if they could have someone/anyone call her who speaks Spanish. They said no one there speaks Spanish. I told them Elyse does. They said yeah, but Elyse doesn’t schedule appointments. So just to confirm… you have a Spanish speaking psychiatric NP, but no one is available to schedule Spanish speakers? My friend ended up going in person the following day after not hearing back, and they looked at her so confused. Her son let them know that she was here to schedule an appointment with Elyse. They told her that Elyse couldn’t help her with a mental health crisis because she simply prescribes medication. Ok but that is LITERALLY what she was trying to get scheduled for. This place is either discriminatory or severely incompetent.”

“So I'd like to start off by saying that if I could give my Therapist a 5 I would, but unfortunately as a whole the business gets a 1, let me explain why. I will not be naming names so as not to personally attack anyone. During my session a therapist totally separate from my own decided to take it upon herself to Interrupt our session to say we're being too loud. The audacity of this woman, and you know who you are, and I hope you read this. Getting up the courage to go to therapy can be hard enough for some. And obviously people seek therapy for a reason. And so this "PROFESSIONAL" embarrassed me and my therapist because we're laughing to loud? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think that if you claim to be a "Therapist" that hearing clients laugh is a positive thing. Now thanks to this lady I have regressed some in my progress. How can WE as patients ever hope to get better, when you have fake people who claim to be therapists who are only concerned about themselves and their patients well being instead of the community as a whole? Do better people. THIS IS THERAPY! It is supposed to be all inclusive. If this lady wants to micromanage and tell everyone they're loud, then she needs to ride off into the sunset. Also I have posted this same review on Yelp. I think as a society it’s time that us as clients/patients take a stand and start advocating for each other and those who genuinely like their jobs and wish to help. P.S. If I hear that any retaliation was taken against my therapist for this review I’ll be more than willing to take it further than Google and Yelp reviews. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

“River City has very high turnover, I have been seen by 3 different providers in under a year because everyone keeps leaving. So there is no trust established between providers and patients, and they refused to provide me the medication which THEY had determined I needed based on THIER diagnosis, after my mail-order pharmacy failed to deliver it (and I provided them photographic evidence of the destroyed package). Then they discharged me as a patient and left me to fend for myself with no medication at all when I made a snarky comment to them via text. They don't give a damn about their patients because no one stays long enough to get to know them. They are not just bad, the are dangerous and actually harm people rather than help them.”

“Absolute circus of an office. I reached out, and a therapist actually called me week later, asked what I was looking for, and confirmed a date and time for my first appointment. Today—the exact day of that scheduled appointment—I called the office just to confirm their physical address, only to be told I'm not even in their system. Apparently, I was supposed to call and "confirm" with the front desk beforehand, which neither the office nor the therapist ever told me to do. No confirmation text, email, or call was ever sent to me about this step. Their solution to their own massive communication breakdown was to push me out another two months. Unprofessional, disorganized, and a complete waste of time. I told them to forget it; I'll go somewhere that actually knows how to run a schedule. Avoid this place.”
