“I've been using the ACTTEAM services now for well over the last 3 years and they helped me find adequate housing mostly for safety purposes not shelter only but I really don't think that they communicate well with each other about their patients because I have been very open and honest with the workers that have taken the time to help me stay stable on my psychiatric medicine that's needed to treat my symptoms of schizoaffective even though I've also got very serious medical problems like kidney disease my ACTTEAM has helped me with getting some appointments made that when I tried calling for myself Nephrology never returned my calls so my nurse went in person and made sure that I had this very important appointment made that I needed but unless you're proactive about doing things for yourself and by yourself with your mental health services you really don't get exactly what you need you first need to be able to identify what your needs are from your wants unless you're made out of money but that's not realistic so please be real with yourself it's very important to be fully honest with your mental health services about everything always even if you think that they might put you in the hospital because they only do that for your own safety purposes until they can reevaluate the situation from every point that needs changing to help you feel better even if you don't feel like it right then it's worth it in the end. Please have a great day because RHA offers wonderful ACTTEAM Services depending on your part how much you're willing”
“The nicest group of people I’ve ever met. Mildred and the women in the office are professional and so kind. They made me feel comfortable when I started going there a month ago!”
“The recent company decision to eliminate individualized therapy sessions and transition to group counseling only, is incredibly demeaning. When asking questions as to why this change is being done, whether by the only licensed therapist there, the front desk attendants, or even the peer workers, you get an average response of "mental health is a growing field, therefore we are trying new avenues." Groups based therapy doesn't work for everyone and only offering literally one person as a licensed counselor doesn't really adhere to the "mental health is a growing field option" expressing the sheer abundance of avenues that your being told are at this location. Not only that, but as for the peer supports who work at this location, there is an extreme gap between professional and personal experience. Having someone to just talk too is not why clients show up, it's to work on goals and to be given the necessary homework needed to achieve that long term independence.”
“i value stability, security, and the ability to enjoy life’s simple pleasures — and food is one of the most important. i asked them to write a letter explaining that i can’t work because of my mental illness, schizoaffective, and that mental illness affects people differently, so my food stamps wouldn’t drop to just $47. they refused. when i asked why, they said they’d “find resources” for me instead. but i didn’t need vague promises, i needed that letter. to me, having good, nourishing food is part of feeling safe and cared for. i won’t accept being put in a position where something so essential to my well-being feels unstable.”
