What patients say on Google

“I’ve had a wonderful experience with Renewed Journey Counseling Services. My family has been coming here for years, and they’ve consistently exceeded our expectations. From premarital counseling for my husband and me (we’re now married for 10 years), to services for my children, and even my own individual therapy. They truly offer something for everyone. It’s a one stop shop for care, and the entire team is friendly, professional, and compassionate. Thank you for all that you guys have done and do!”

“My Psych NP is AMAZING, but the overall practice is unethical. To receive psych services, you must first pay for a pre-check visit, which they have now renamed a clinical counseling session or something. Basically, it's a forced, costly, 30-minute session with someone you do not have an established therapeutic relationship with, who is going to ask the SAME questions your actual provider will ask. The office manager throws around words like "integrative and holistic" as if they excuse their unethical practices. Verbalizing one's own mental health concerns can already be taxing, and to require a person to do it twice, not only does a disservice to the individual, but it is also proof that the owner of this practice cares more about how to increase the influx of cash rather than the care of the patient. The anxiety of having to reveal my personal concerns twice is enough for me to have to increase my meds just to get through the day. I hope their practice is reported to the APA and the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association.”

“I have an amazing experience with Dr. Kay for myself and my son. After years of taking meds that never seemed to work, she was the first to look outside the box, try different treatments, and finally figure out my true diagnosis. It has made such a difference have the right meds!!”

“EDITING to respond to the response I received on my review. You did not clarify anything, you just gaslit me and all of your other patients. The pre-checks aren't necessary, required, or demanded by insurance. I have never been to a single practice that requires them. The precheck policy is a paternalistic, invasive money-making scheme and I think you should be ashamed. The two stars are for my two providers who I love, Maggie and Ruth. They are wonderful. My issue is with the unprofessional, dishonest, and invasive "pre-check" policy the practice has in place for psychiatric appointments. The office requires all patients to meet with a counselor/therapist before their scheduled psychiatry appointment. Patients are billed for TWO appointments, which means TWO co-pays (and in my case, they scheduled my precheck via phone, even though they knew my insurance does not cover telehealth). Patients are forced to divulge private information about their mental health to a provider they've never met before (they schedule you with whomever is available in the 30-min slot before the psychiatry appointment), and then the psychiatric provider asks all of the same questions. It is absolutely ridiculous, especially for patients who already see a therapist regularly at the practice. I am convinced the policy is only in place as a mechanism to increase billing, which is dishonest and gross.”
