“Great care, solid comprehensive program. It’s not one size fits all and the staff sincerely cares. I had a great experience which set me up for success after. Thank you to the entire group from kitchen, clinical, and administrative teams and beyond!”
“3 stars because it was good, but not great. I was in the mental health side. This is the kind of place thats good if you just want to take a month to yourself and work on some coping skills. I think it would be a good step after going to a hospital maybe or if youre NOT in any kind of crisis. You're allowed to bring clothes with no restrictions on strings or belts, unopened food and drink, hygiene products, journals, coloring books and pencils, comfort items, etc. They take your phone, wallet, and keys. The rooms I think of them like a small hotel rooms. Theres a full size bed and actual pillows, a closet, a big dresser, a 50 inch smart tv, a lamp, alarm clock, and 2 end tables. Some of the rooms are private, some of them are shared with one roommate and one shared bathroom. The shared rooms are set up basically like a room that has separate rooms within for each roommate. I will say you are pretty comfortable. There's also a small lounge and a theater. You are required to attend 4 groups a day. You have 3 meals although they are small portions and usually very dry. Visitation is on Wednesday and Sunday. They have a phone you can use just about as much as you'd like as long as you keep in mind the other residents. But here's my issue and it may seem small but it was important to me at least. For one, I went into this being told it was accessible and if I knew I would end up taking 4 flights of stairs up and down probably 10 times a day I wouldn't have went. Listen I'm not fit. Im definitely a big back and I know that contributes to my chronic pain and knee arthritis but the reality is I can't go hard-core on the stairs because I will injure my knee and tear something which I did. I was told they had an elevator which I guess they do. The problem with the elevator is its small, dimly lit, old, and has no door so as you're going down you can see all the bricks and cement. Its like a scary movie. And I never saw a help button. Also, half the staff weren't even aware there was an elevator. If you wanted to use it you had to track a BHT down to unlock the door to use it. (Its a regular door on the outside, the actual elevator doesn't have a door.) So to get a BHT you had to go down the stairs anyway. So I tried to push through but ultimately I couldn't do the pain. Then, my other problem was the lack of care. Don't get me wrong most of the nurses and BHTs were super compassionate. Probably the best I've seen since I began working on my mental health. Shoutout to Evan, Micheal (with the hair bun), Nicole, and nurse Stella. My issue was mainly my therapist Morgan. When I arrived I had a 30 minute assessment with her which she then told me I went from moderate to low based on how I was feeling right then and there. Everyday she'd promise to meet with me but she never did and would just tell me again the next day. I feel I really needed to talk to a therapist one on one. I was having unaliving thoughts and the nurses and BHTs would always reach out to my therapist but she never saw me for actual therapy. She finally came up to me and what she said made me feel bad for wanting help and she seemed to think groups were more important. Groups are great but not the same as one on one therapy. Having a spouse who is also a therapist I get you're busy but you still need to do your job. This is where I came to the conclusion that either this place isn't equipped to deal with my severity of mental illness or Morgan needs to re-evaluate her career choice because making someone feel like crap for even saying they really need to talk to you is unacceptable. There are different ways to say what she said. So given that and the pain I was having I left pretty early in treatment against medical advise. Also they are a tad bit pushy when you ask to leave. But it wasn't all bad. I probably would return if I didnt have Morgan and if I wasn't in the same situation I'm in now. Also, if they would fix the elevator situation so its more accessible and maybe make it so you dont need to track someone down to unlock it I would probably return.”
“ReCreate is a great facility. Upon arrival I was taken to my room. Resident rooms are very spacious, equipped with a large bed, dressers, a closet so you have a plenty of room for your belongings, and a large flat screen. The staff were great. They were very kind and professional. The Director, Michael, is awesome and deeply compassionate about his work. All the staff treated each resident fairly and actually listened to your problems and needs. My therapist was awesome as well. The food was good prepared by the kitchen staff. If you didn't like what was on the menu (whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner) they offer substitutions. There are plenty of snacks, juice and soda available 24/7. They offer free cigarettes if you are a smoker. In your free time there are plenty of things to keep yourself busy. They have a weight room and treadmill room. There is also a big theatre room to catch a flick. Also, video games, an air hockey table and tons of board games. I have never been the type to talk about my feelings but being here and around residents who are going through similar problems as me I opened up and blossomed quickly. I felt at home at ReCreate and loved by the time I was done. It felt like family with the residents and staff. It was a sad day to be discharged. I would recommend this facility to anyone 18+ if you are struggling with mental health or drug addiction. They definitely helped me rebuild my self identity. In closing, thanks to all the staff who helped me through this journey. Love to all the staff, Trev”
“It's difficult to quantify into words such an impactful experience, but I'll try. This facility truly saved my life. I cannot express enough my gratitude for the BHT staff, nursing, clinicians, therapists, group facilitators, and operations. Literally everyone. The memories, growth, and confidence I've gained will be cherished. I'm grateful I came to Recreate, I'm grateful I didn't give up on the program, and I'm grateful for all the support and encouragement I received during my time there.”
