What patients say on Google
“I am pretty unhappy with my experience so far… One month ago on July 3 I had an appointment here at 3 PM. I admittedly got here late at 3:10 I checked in and not only did they take a payment for me beforehand, but they refused to bill me to my insurance even though with my insurance this should have no cost to me. Front desk said it would be 170 and then she sent it to the “finance department” and then it came back that it was 140. I told her again this is supposed to be of no cost to me and she sent it back to the finance department and they said it would be $40 pointing to a really zoomed in screenshot. I finally just gave in and paid them the dirty money… Today looking at the reviews I see that they charge all of their patients without making them aware. I was seen at around 4:30 even though there was only one other patient here and the nurse didn’t process me they just put fake vitals on my chart and told me to wait some more. I’m on heart medication so having a fake BP reading on my chart is a bad thing. that day and the person on the other side of the desk pretty much seemed like I was taking up her time for the entire 24 minute duration of the appointment. Today, It’s August 3 and my appointment was at 3:20 so… at 2:40 PM I got a notice through the psychplus app that my appointment had been turned from in person to virtual… Aside from this being extremely short notice I opted out of virtual appointments because my insurance covers me for in person only, I did explain this to the the APN P. Animas the last time that I was here and she is the one who chose this particular date and time for me. reviewing her office hours. It seems that she doesn’t work today. She only works on Tuesdays so I’m not sure why she scheduled me for a Monday. I arrived at 3:05 about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment and right now it is 3:41. The person who arrived here at 3:30 has already gone into see the doctor and I am still sitting in the waiting room. Update: It looks to be that The APN went home early today and that’s why she decided to flake on me for our appointment that she set one month ago and the next time she is available is on 25 August. It’s great that the front desk offered to help me with setting a new appointment and sending my prescriptions until then, but my primary care provider wants me to see a psychiatrist once a month not every so often when the psychiatrist feels like it, so I may need to find a new provider. Psychplus seems to be a pretty seedy company that hires flakes and liars. Even the “office” appears to be a front having all the lights off in one part of the building and having no A/C in the whole building. The TV isn’t on they don’t even have batteries for the wall clock. I thought having an app was more convenient but I’ll gladly fill out paperwork at a traditional psych office than come here again.”
“The NP was great. I will be switching to another one outside of PsychPlus because I have a $0 co-payment but they keep charging me $30 every time I go WITHOUT TELLING ME. When I call the customer service line, I get sent to a voicemail over and over. My insurance cannot get a hold of them either. When I spoke to the lady in the front, she made a call (to someone on her cell phone, not sure to who) and spoke to someone who told her they are charging me to pay a balance that I supposedly owe, but I should not have a balance to begin with! And they said “we don’t refund.””
“My experience with the team at psych plus has been incredible. Obviously with Dr Matos at the helm who has been absolutely deserving of all the great things I've heard about him. Then there is both Kevin and Arely who both play an important role in the experience at the Edinburg facility. Each one in their own way facilitated an environment where I felt safe to express myself free of judgement or criticism and over time build connection and trust and understanding in turn allowing me to process past trauma's and guiding me towards forward progress. I would highly recommend this team if you find yourself in need of help. I'm in a much better head space than I was before.”
“This place is the most unreliable office for psych patients that need treatment. It takes forever to get in then when an appointment is made they call you and say they need to reschedule you and then reschedule you again. Letting patients go without their medications. When you call the answering service they never give the message to the Doctor or Nurse practioner and you tell them you need medication changed or refilled they never react or order your medicine. This is the worst place to entrust your psychiatric needs especially if you need help. Im not exaggerating this really happened and also to a friend of mine. If you need mental health treatment dont go here.”
