How likely are you to recommend Potomac Psychological Center, LLC?
What patients say on Google
“I have been a patient with Potomac Psychological for quite some time. Enough time to have experienced both professional and administrative services. As a patient diagnosed as an adult with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder comorbid with Depression, life has presented many obstacles to success. Nick Gentile is outstanding! He is the most professional, courteous, encouraging, and kind therapist I could ever have hoped to engage. He has provided numerous strategies for success and coping mechanisms which have helped tremendously in my day to day activities. Dr. Maha Abdel-Kader is professional, compassionate, kind, and responsive with excellent choices for medications. The staff I have encountered over the years have likewise been courteous and responsive. I highly recommend this practice and commend them for their excellent service! Gesina Meynier”
“The only reason we chose this practice was because few providers would see my relative due to her young age. Would love to switch practices, but it's always worrying changing providers when it comes to psychiatric care because every psychiatrist tries to change meds immediately. It's like starting all over again. The office staff has gotten friendlier than they once were, but things still constantly slip through the cracks. Messages left with the office staff are rarely returned. Prescriptions are often not provided to the pharmacy, and whenever there's an issue on this front, it's blamed on the pharmacy. The bills are absolutely insane ($254 *with* insurance for a ten minute appointment both in-person and virtual). I pay less doing self-pay at my own psychiatrist, and when this was pointed out to the billing office, they were entirely indifferent. There's no sympathy for an inability to pay, no attempt to work with families to continue care. It's just an all-around unpleasant and unsustainable experience. I question whether this practice actually cares about their patients. We usually feel like just a number that shows up solely to have the psychiatrist sign a piece of paper so my relative can continue to receive the same meds she's been on for years now. But oh my goodness, we must keep those quarterly+ appointments, or goodbye to her mental health stability. I will give her psychiatrist (Dr. Mukhara) some credit - when my relative's Rx was fumbled and I left multiple messages trying to resolve the problem, she called me after hours on a weekend to notify me that the issue had been solved (side note - it was the practice's fault rather than the pharmacy's which was not at all surprising given the past history). I really appreciated that. This is the only reason I'm rating the office with 2 stars rather than one. Pay out the wazoo for ten minutes with a provider for your meds to *maybe* arrive at the pharmacy, then get bombarded with messages about how you owe even more. It's just an awful spot to be put in. I wish her primary care physician could prescribe these meds bc that's literally all this practice is doing. It's just a signature on a piece of paper. Now, hand over >$250 and get out the door. Shameful.”
“Do NOT go here. I'm being billed $207 AFTER insurance for absolutely nothing. I had an initial video meeting with Dr. Ansari where he simply told me I would have to book sessions with a psychologist or take a test with a psychologist to determine what help I needed. I have never been to a practice where they made you see a psychologist before a psychiatrist will actually help you. I asked for my records from my previous doctor to be faxed to them. I waited and heard nothing. I reached out to Dr. Ansari and he said on 12/2 that he would be in the office soon and check the status of my files. Today is 12/12 and he still has NOT contacted me. I received a bill via email and I replied that I haven't received any help. They said my previous doctor did send the files but I needed to reach out to the doctor and schedule an appointment to go over everything. Funny how they received my files and over the 3 business days they had them NO ONE bothered to reach out to me and it's only after they want money that they inform me they have my records. This is a greedy practice with no communication. Avoid!”
“The receptionist cared more about collecting a payment than about providing support when I called looking to connect with my child’s therapist.”
