How likely are you to recommend Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center-Behavioral Health?
What patients say on Google
“first off cant smoke a cigarette, when all you got in life to look forward to is a cigarette, maybe you would understand the pain. second get treated as a criminal for having a mental health issue, not just here this takes place but more pronounced, a glorified jail. third pretty sure they got fumes from these covered outlets that sprays stuff to make you sleep so they don't have to deal with you and you can just rot in a bed. fourth i was there during winter and the heat went out for days and i had like 5 blankets laying in bed at night and still was very cold, wouldn't doubt if someone died from hypothermia. 5th they will manhandle you and jab shots in you and push you off camera if they don't like how you act and there tired of taking care of you. 6th the doctors are a joke, not even sure if they even understand english most of the time, nor care to even be considerate a bit. you can feel the misery inside there when you go in. the ones that aren’t certified, there great they make your stay there the only thing thats comforting, i mean like the non professionals i suppose, i do have to say i appreciate them giving me a sandwich and a snack when i asked, sometimes they had an extra tray they would give me. the food is decent, sometimes would say maybe better then the outside. specially during a winter storm, they brought the sauce to the food then. i don’t think they intend to be mean necessarily besides the evil staff you can tell by looking at them. no fault of an evil person to be evil at a job, i mean they are evil, so what do you expect whenever who hired them. whoever runs this horror factory needs to resign and someone else manage it. cause its costing people there livelihoods and tax payers more money down the drain on a revolving door. also want to point out depriving of sunlight, entertainment, filled up with every drug known to man kind and around zonked people in an overcrowded evil staffed people, wont help recover there mental health. i will give some tips, better staff, outside area thats secured for (customers) should be residents- allow cigarettes, better doctors that understand and care just tiny bit at least. better lighting, better entertainment, better ac. maybe consider making it more spacious, its very claustrophobic in there. and for some reason the coffee always tasted like pee, i'm guessing ethier the staff peed in it or the customers. overall just allow a darn cigarette to be smoked, is that too much to ask for in this cruel world?”
“If I could give it a zero star I would. They do not keep people on their regular medicine, they stop them cold turkey and put them at risk for withdrawals which in turn makes their mental health worse. When you call to try to get answers, no matter how polite you are, they hang up on you. I would recommend staying as far away from this Behavioral Health Unit as possible. When you try to advocate for a family member, they take away their phone privileges. That is not fair to the patient when they had nothing to do with the advocating.”
“A few staff members are good but the rest are horrible.. They disrespect you and could care less wats wrong with you. They give you clothes that don't fit and one of the doctors or head nurse speaks broken English and is absolutely horrible. She tried to tell me I was someone else and it took other staff members to correct her.. She also had a crusty film around her mouth from taking to many pills.. She is dangerous to people in that place and needs to be REMOVED!! If one person could record 48 hours in this place without the staff knowing it you would see this place proably causes more harm than good....”
“If I could give 0 stars, I would. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE. The doctor didn’t see me within 24 hours of admission (which is a requirement and law in place by the joint commission) and then she was nasty to me about it. The nurses in general are rude, mean, unprofessional, and don’t have empathy for the patients. I never got to speak with a therapist/counselor until the night before my discharge and that was only so he could do discharge stuff and speed up me getting out of there. I begged for my meds (including ibuprofen) and went through withdrawals which I could have a seizure if I didn’t wean off first. No seizure precautions were in place, or any precautions in general, my nurses didn’t care, they didn’t listen to my concerns, and they could NEVER answer any questions for me. I was constantly getting told “I don’t know, give it time.” My Dr told me I could leave in 2 days if I’m good. I asked her to elaborate and she told me take my meds (which I had to beg for) and participate in activities. I hadn’t gotten much sleep there so I took a nap and was called to the activity room for activity time. They were playing wii bowling. That’s all you have to do… pace the hall, color, write, sleep, and watch movies. I will point out one more thing. A certain day shift nurse hates her job so much she rolls her eyes if you ask for your chapstick that they have to lock up in the med room.”
