“I’ve seen several psychiatrists and therapists in the past several years and unfortunately, most of them were people with licenses and certifications they should not have. I’ve been disappointed time and time again; having someone completely ignore me or brush me off or question my every word. As if, for some reason, I just really want to take antipsychotics? Maybe I just think they’re yummy, I have no idea what they’re thinking when they talk to me. I start using big psychiatrist words, like “mania” and “delusions” and apparently that’s a turn off. I’ve been taught these things, this is what I’ve been told based on the experiences I’ve described. And while I don’t think Dr. Carrie is a bad psychiatrist by any means; I’ve been disappointed again. I’ve tried six different medications to help me sleep, I’ve tried melatonin, valerian root, teas, Benadryl, ASMR, sleep sounds, anything you can think of—I have tried. I am so tired, I can feel the exhaustion in my bones, my chest, behind my eyes. For years I have been trying to get one good night of sleep. Just one. And all I got was a prescription I’ve already taken at a dosage I’ve already maxed. Thank you for your time, but I cannot spend another month on Ramelteon after I’ve already spent a month wishing it would work.”
