How likely are you to recommend Pine Rest Traverse City Clinic?
What patients say on Google
“I had a very distressing experience with Dr. Wilkinson that I feel others should be aware of. I would strongly caution others, especially those who are vulnerable or neurodivergent, to consider this before scheduling with him. I asked for his clinical opinion about lamotrigine (Lamictal), which another physician had previously mentioned as a possible future option. I did not ask for the medication. After bringing this up, the interaction escalated significantly. Dr. Wilkinson became defensive and stated that I was “treating him like a vending machine” and said, “You think I’m not a nice doctor just because I’m not giving you the medication that you want,” even though I was not requesting a prescription. He also asked me, “Do you think Dr. Lin is a nice doctor?” which felt inappropriate and unrelated to my care. When I calmly stated that the “vending machine” comment was rude and unprofessional, he responded sarcastically, “Whoa, I’m rude and unprofessional?” and continued to argue with me while I was visibly upset and crying. When I expressed concern about increasing my Abilify dose due to the risk of weight gain, he dismissed this by saying, “If you haven’t gained weight on 5 mg, that’s a bad argument,” rather than discussing risks in a collaborative way. This interaction felt invalidating, emotionally unsafe, and inconsistent with the kind of supportive, patient-centered care I expect from a psychiatrist. There appears to be an ongoing pattern of defensiveness rather than collaboration.”
“I can't say enough good things about Kym Hansen-Duell. I have been seeing her on and off since my teenage years and can honestly say that she has helped me in so many ways I can't even begin to describe them all. She has been so accommodating with scheduling, quick to reschedule when she takes (much deserved!) time off, and understanding when I need to reschedule. With DBT and Kym, I am no longer "just surviving," I am thriving. She helped me find the me I was always meant to be and for that, I am eternally greatful. I have always been impressed with Pine Rest TC but Kym is the crown jewel of the professionals they have.”
“This place and it's councilors are a joke. They will lie to you about what insurance they take if they want you transfered out of their system, they do not care about your mental health. They only care about your money. They will lie about your treatments, they will lie about your diagnosis. I would highly recommend NOT trusting these people. Especially the therapist named Faith Houghton. She will deceive you into believing she cares, wants to help, she does not. She wants to get your services over as quickly as possible, and get you out of the way like a number not a person.”
“Set up therapy for my daughter I believe back in May. We have had a couple planned trips this summer, but taking that into account, Kym, has cancelled 3 times. Once or twice it was because of a pre planned absence that she knew about but never let office staff know until last minute. Plus on top of that, she requested paperwork from me that I don’t believe has any bearing on my daughter’s therapy. If clients cancel three times for CA any reason, they’re discharged, but therapists can continually cancel. My daughter needs consistency.”
