“I went to Dr. Helding and put up with his lack of professionalism for years. He is arrogant, condescending, and never seemed to have any genuine compassion for me. He seemed uncomfortable taking a full history on my first visit, so I honestly don't think he knows much about me, to this day. Every follow-up appointment lasted no longer than 7 minutes. I attempted to discuss this with him, and was told I was "exaggerating". When I did go in the office for follow-up appointments, he would not make eye contact with me, constantly typed on his computer ( NOT taking notes), answered phone calls, and showed what I interpreted as distaste for me in general. The ONLY time we had a meeting that lasted longer than 7 minutes was when I brought my husband with me. I finally switched to phone follow-ups, because going to his office meant driving 20 minutes there, waiting 30 minutes on average, talking to him for 5-7 minutes, and then driving 20 minutes home! In reading the other reviews, it's obvious that I was, in fact, NOT exaggerating! The last time I spoke to Dr. Helding, I explained that my meds (which haven't been changed or increased for quite some time) were no longer effective. He completely dismissed me, saying that my lack of response to the meds I've been on for quite a while was due to my problems being "situational". Then, I recently found out that he/his staff have been lying to me for 2 years about being an in-network provider and the cost of my co-pay. It was ONLY through talking to my insurance company that I found out he wasn't in my network any longer - despite his staff INSISTING they still are in-network. I should have had a $40 co-pay. Last year they charged me a $50 co-pay. This year, they charged me a $59.75 co-pay! I originally gave them a credit card to keep on file, but after they screwed up by charging me significant bills...and changing the charges ONLY AFTER I complained...I took away my credit card on file. The ONLY person on Dr. Helding's staff who has a clue is Emerald, who has always done her best to be professional, kind, and knowledgeable. I have finally found a new psychiatrist, who is EVERYTHING that Dr. Helding is NOT. After I called to terminate my relationship with Helding, I was told that I would have to go into the office to sign a release. I asked if the release could be mailed or emailed to me, which I was told was feasible...that was over a week ago, and I still have not received any mail or email from their office. Now, I'm just waiting to see if they try to tell me I still owe them money...I already have an attorney on speed-dial! And, by the way, if anyone from Psych Associates attempts to reach out to me, your communication will be either given to my lawyer, not answered, and/or returned to sender.”
